Abstract

The spade has an extendible shaft (2) comprising a number of elongated shaft sections (8, 8, 9) which are rotatable relative to each other between two positions and can cooperate with a fitting connected to a rear piece (4) of the blade (1). The fitting includes a rotary sleeve (14), an axial passage for the shaft to pass through when the shaft sections are all in a first position and at least one stop for preventing the shaft from being retracted from its extended position when the shaft sections are all in a second position, in order to fix the shaft into position.
