Abstract

The oscillator comprises at least two voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO) (1A, 1B), each VCO comprising an in-port, an adjustment circuit which has a control terminal and is connected to at least one VCO, and an amplitude detector connected to the control terminal and to the first and second oscillator out-ports (I, Q). The amplitude detector is used to determine the difference in amplitude between the output signals from the two VCO's and send an amplitude difference signal to the adjustment circuit, so that this circuit can use the amplitude difference to alter the load of at least one of the VCO's, in order to minimise this difference. Independent claims are also included for the following: (a) Method for controlling the phase in a square wave oscillator comprising two VCOs, the minimisation of the amplitude difference being used to synchronise the amplitudes for the two VCOs; (b) Radio transmitter comprising the square wave oscillator; and (c) Square wave oscillator comprising an oscillator circuit with two out-ports
