Abstract

A liquid-absorbing material comprises a hardened urea formaldehyde foam comminuted into porous pieces. The surface of the pieces of hardened urea formaldehyde foam and/or the particles of the friction increasing particulate substance is sticky to maintain particulate substance adhered to the surface of said pieces. In a method for manufacturing the liquid-absorbing material pieces of hardened urea formaldehyde foam and/or the particles of the friction increasing particulate substance are sprayed with a heated oil to make the surface of the pieces or the particles, respectively, sticky after the oil having cooled on said surface. The pieces of hardened urea formaldehyde foam and the friction increasing particulate substance are tumbled together to make this substance adhere to the surface of the pieces.
