Abstract
The optical power emitted by a semiconductor laser (1) is measured by a monitor diode (11) for adjusting bias and modulation currents (Ib, Im} .Extra predetermined bits are inserted by an earlier stage in the input signal at regular intervals to provide a low frequency component. This component can be detected and used for the adjustment.
