Abstract

An antenna device (100) for a radio communication device with a feed element (112) is provided. The antenna device comprises a housing (104), an internal antenna element (120) and an axially movable external antenna element (102) having a conductive end portion (106). A separate, axially movable conductive element (110) extends radially outside of the conductive end portion of the external antenna element to perform switching operations. Thereby a sufficient decoupling distance between the feed element and the external antenna element can be maintained while avoiding an end portion with excessive diameter. Also, reflection currents during switching between the external and the internal antenna elements are avoided.
