Abstract

A method and a cellular radio communication network estimating a noise floor power level in a first cell in the cellular radio communication network. Samples of signal-to-interference ratio and associated samples of received signal strength for radio signals transmitted on a first radio frequency channel by transmitters operating in the first cell are provided (301). Interference level samples, corresponding to the provided samples of signal-to-interference level and associated samples of received signals strength, are calculated (302). The noise floor power level is continuously estimated (303) by performing low pass filtering of a sequence of interference level samples including at least some of the calculated interference level samples. Signal strength thresholds in the cellular radio communication network may be set automatically in dependence of the estimated noise floor power level.
