Abstract
The lid is clamped onto the vessel by a ring with a concave inside surface. The clamping ring can be opened by a locking device in order to receive the lid periphery and vessel rim, and also closed tight against this periphery and rim. The lid is flexible in its axial direction and also in the axial direction of the vessel. The peripheral region of the lid has a glide surface extending in the outer/top side of the lid and has an essentially flat inner/bottom side. When closing the ring, its concave inner side is made to slide over the chamfered peripheral region of the lid in order to press the underside of the lid into tight contact with the top edge surface of the vessel, whilst being retained by the vessel rim. At the same time the reduced ring radius forces the lid to deform slightly in its axial direction so that it adopts the same diameter as the vessel.
