Abstract

If gas data deviates from a given (threshold) value, a control circuit causes a light source to emit light at a second pulse frequency greater than the first pulse frequency. The value of the first frequency is less than 1 pulse every 1/60 of a second, and the second frequency increases with gas concentration. An electr(on)ic connection arrangement is used for a measuring cell (2) used to detect the presence of a gas (mixture) and/or measure its concentration. The cell contains a light source and a light-sensitive device (22) for detecting light passing through an optical measurement path formed by e.g. mirror surfaces for reflecting the light. The output signal from the light-sensitive device is sent to a spectral analysis device. The light source is connected to a control circuit designed to ensure light is emitted in pulses with a given first frequency. If the gas data deviates from a given (threshold) value, the control circuit will make the light source emit light in pulses at a second frequency greater than the first frequency. The value of the first frequency is less than 1 pulse every 1/60 of a second, and the second frequency increases with gas concentration.
