Abstract

A gas or air insulated electric device with a conductor (1) is held away from a neighbouring conductive body (5), such as a structural element or a cover, by a support (3) and surrounded by an insulating gas. The conductor is at least partly covered by an electrically insulating coating (2). The support (3) comprises an electrically insulating porous material with a solids' content of 30 % by volume or less and a relative dielectric constant of 1.5 or less.
