Abstract

A tin coating is formed by immersing the object in a bath containing an alkali metal salt of 3,4,5-trihydroxybenzoic acid and a tin salt. A method for surface treating objects comprising an aluminium-copper alloy involves forming a tin coating by immersing the object in an acidic bath solution containing an alkali metal salt of 3,4,5-trihydroxybenzoic acid and a tin salt. An Independent claim is also included for the coating bath.
