Abstract

In this work, zinc sulfide activated with silver and chlorine nanoparticles were produced in an environmental oven. This substance is nanometer in size compared to the previous material which was micrometric. Features of a high-efficiency Radon cell with native scintillator were presented. In this work, we report the scintillation characteristics of Ag activated ZnS nanoparticle scintillator. The PL intensity increased with increasing AgNO3 concentration and reached the maximum value at AgNO3 of 0.4 mg. It was found that the scintillation of silver activated zinc sulfide is equivalent to (67%) of the light glow of a standard substance of zinc sulfide .For the prepared sample and the standar sample, a relationship between counts and irradiation time is determined which is found to be linear by using alpha source. the Scintillation properties of standard and prepared ZnS(Ag) samples has been investigated. Pulse height spectrum of 241Am 5.48MeV α-particles and 60 KeV γ rays has been measu
