The invention relates to instrumentation, in particular for determining the strength characteristics of building materials by non-destructive method, and is intended for use in construction, the production of building materials, research and experimental work. The purpose of the invention is the creation of a universal sclerometer device that provides the ability to determine the strength characteristics of building materials and structures with various surface topography, the possibility of visual information and the fixation of measurement indicators, increased test accuracy, simplified design and increased service life of the device. The device consists of a striker 1 with a removable ball indenter 2 and a cocking latch 3, a working spring 4, a barrel 5, a cocking pin 6, a moving element of the displacement sensor 7, a housing 8 with a handle and a funnel-shaped bevel 9 for disengaging the striker, spring 10 for returning the barrel to case, L-shaped levers of a platoon 11, a spring-loaded movable orientator 12 of the direction of the control strike, an electronic unit 13 with an attachment for fixing and displaying visual information of the measurement data. The spring-loaded movable orientator comprises support rods 15, a spline hub and a spring. The striker latch assembly comprises a latch axis, a spring sleeve, a latch spring and a latch head. An electronic unit is a device consisting of units that form an analog signal proportional to the probe moving into a recess from a sclerometric shock, an analog-to-digital converter combined in an LSI together with a digital display unit, and a voltage converter unit. Use the device as follows. Holding the device with one hand on the handle, with the other cock the striker by raising the L-shaped platoon lever until the striker is locked with a latch. The cocked device is placed with the orienter on the test surface and pressed with increasing force, while the body is pushed onto the barrel from the side of the handle and bevels the striker latch out of engagement, striking with an indenter that is pressed into the product. The penetration depth through the moving element of the displacement sensor is fixed by the electronic unit, being converted into visual-digital information.
