Abstract
FIELD: engine engineering. SUBSTANCE: ion current that flows through electrodes of a spark plug is measured. Alternative voltage is generated in the primary winding of an ignition coil when control pulses are absent. Ion current in the secondary winding of the ignition coil is detected, e.g. with a synchronic detector. To apply the method the ignition system should be composed of control electronic unit, electronic switch and individual ignition coils for each spark plug. EFFECT: enhanced reliability. 4 cl, 6 dwg
