Abstract

FIELD: devising and manufacture of individual protection means. SUBSTANCE: composite material for armor vest is comprised of three different materials providing in their combination of the required bullet-proof characteristics: face layer of aluminium magnesium alloy sheet, supporting layer of low-molecular polyethylene reinforced with glass cloth and cellular polyethylene as shock-absorbing layer. The thickness ratio of the enumerated layers is 1:(2-3):(3-4). As compared with the known materials based on titanium alloys and cloths of aramide fibers application of the offered composite material allows reduction of manufacture costs of armor vests by several times. EFFECT: reduced mass, and, mainly, manufacture costs of armor vest with preservation of their required resistance to injuring factors.

Claims (1)

The invention relates to the field of development and creation of personal protective equipment and is aimed at reducing the mass and cost of manufacturing body armor while maintaining their resistance to damaging factors. The essence is that the material is composed of three dissimilar materials, which together provide the required bullet resistance: the front layer of a sheet of aluminum-magnesium alloy, the backing layer of low molecular weight polyethylene reinforced with fiberglass and foam polyethylene as a cushioning layer. The ratio of the thicknesses of the listed layers is proposed to be accepted as 1: (2: 3): (3: 4). Compared with previously used materials based on titanium alloys and aramid fiber fabrics, the use of a new composite material allows to reduce the cost of manufacturing body armor several times.
