Изобретение относится к области химико-термической обработки и нанесения металлических покрытий на стальные изделия горячим способом при погружении в расплав солей или в расплав металла покрытия и может быть использовано в металлургии и машиностроении. Изобретение решает техническую задачу, заключающуюся в усовершенствовании технологии химико-термической обработки и нанесения горячих металлических покрытий, повышении надежности работы и упрощении конструкции устройства, а также в обеспечении безопасных условий труда. Способ регулируемого слива расплава включает слив расплава из емкости через отверстие, перекрываемое шибером. При этом охлаждают расплав в ограниченном объеме емкости и перекрывают сливное отверстие твердым защитным слоем, а слив осуществляют при периодическом нагреве последнего до расплавления. Кроме того, твердый защитный слой создают как из рабочего расплава, так и из вспомогательного материала, инертного или слабоагрессивного по отношению к рабочему расплаву. Устройство для регулируемого слива расплава содержит емкость с отверстием, сливной желоб, злектронагреватель в ограниченном объеме емкости, шибер, снабженный средством охлаждения и приводом.
