При работе установки в режиме теплового насоса низкопотенциальная теплота забирается от термальных водоносных подземных пластов воды и грунтового массива посредством теплопереноса при циркуляции теплоносителя в гравитационной тепловой трубе 16. Циркуляция теплоносителя происходит под действием термогравитационных сил при помощи теплообменников 18 и 19. При работе установки в режиме холодильной машины производится переключение трехходовых вентилей 20 и низкопотенциальная теплота забирается от системы охлаждения (кондиционирования воздуха) испарителем 19 и передается конденсатором 14 при помощи теплообменника 16 системе горячего водоснабжения за счет совершения парокомпрессионного холодильного цикла.
