Abstract

FIELD: devices for accumulation of power of high-frequency electromagnetic field. SUBSTANCE: accumulator of cavity provides focusing radial distribution of phase speed with constant radial gradient of phase speed. In addition Cavity exciting unit is designed as three-dimensional grill which elements are arranged in volume of accumulator and spaced by half-wavelength along coordinate axes. This results in possibility to achieve closed or trapped ring flows of resonant electromagnetic waves with uniform distribution of amplitudes of waves along main azimuth coordinate axis in large volume, while spurious oscillation modes are not presented in conditions of sharply non-stationary process. This eliminates outer emission and losses on excitation of spurious modes, increases q-factor up to inner q-factor of cavity and increases amplitude of accumulated energy. EFFECT: increased efficiency of accumulation.

The invention relates to techniques for storing energy of a high-frequency EM field in open axisymmetric dielectric resonators and can find application, mainly, for the formation of super-powerful, ultra-short pulsed radiation. Distinctive features of the invention is that the resonator drive is made with a focusing radial distribution of the phase velocity, for example, with a constant value of the radial gradient of the phase velocity. In addition, the resonator exciter is made in the form of a volumetric grating, the elements of which are located in the storage volume at a distance of half the wavelength in the medium along the coordinate axes. Distinctive features make it possible to obtain closed or captured ring flows of resonant EM waves in a large storage volume with a uniform distribution of wave amplitudes along the main azimuthal coordinate with almost complete absence of spurious oscillation modes in the sharply unsteady process of energy storage. This almost completely eliminates external radiation and excitation losses of spurious modes, allows to increase the quality factor in the process of accumulation to the cavity's own quality factor and increase the amplitude of the stored energy, which significantly increases the efficiency of storage.
