The invention relates to a plasma technique, namely, tokamak-type reactors, intended for generating energy using controlled thermonuclear fusion. The invention solves the problem of simplifying the design and manufacture of the shell of the tokamak vacuum chamber and increasing its mechanical strength. To solve these problems, a shell of a vacuum chamber of a spherical tokamak, including an outer equatorial cylindrical belt with holes and an inner hollow cylinder with a common axis coinciding with the main axis of the chamber, and two identical shell elements, matching the top and bottom of the equatorial belt, characterized in that each element, the mating belt and cylinder, is made in the form of a hollow truncated spherical segment and a socket connected to it, the axes of symmetry of which coincide with the main axis in a spherical segment is associated with the equatorial belt, and a bell with an internal cylinder, the equatorial belt is made with a variable thickness, maximum in the central part of the belt, and the ratio of the maximum belt thickness to the thickness of the hollow cylinder is more than half the ratio of their diameters. A method of manufacturing the tokamak vacuum chamber shell is also proposed, which consists in obtaining an equatorial belt and a hollow cylinder by bending each of them from flat sheets and subsequent welding, stamping the shell elements that match the belt and cylinder, and final sealing the shell by welding, as well as making holes in the belt for the installation of diagnostic pipes, while the holes in the equatorial belt for the installation of diagnostic pipes are performed after welding, and the welding for final closure The shell is produced by a butt joint using backing rings to forcibly form the back side of the seam, the backing rings being inserted before welding and taken out after it through the holes in the belt.
