Устройство содержит исполнительный орган и исполнительный элемент, датчик выполнен в виде трансформаторов тока с резистивной нагрузкой, трех делителей напряжения, компаратора и спускового устройства, которое в аварийном режиме воздействует на исполнительный механизм и исполнительный орган, создавая перегрузочную характеристику (т.е. зависимость времени перегрузки от ее кратности) гиперболического типа. При этом компаратор и спусковое устройство могут быть выполненными на дискретных КМОП-элементах цифровой логики.
