The composite charge for steelmaking relates to ferrous metallurgy, specifically to the composition of the metal charge for steel production, intended for steelmaking in electric furnaces. The composite charge for steelmaking, containing iron-carbon alloy and oxide material, includes components in the following ratio, wt.%: Iron-carbon alloy - 50.0 - 99.5; the oxide material is 0.5–50.0, with iron oxide and iron oxide in the oxide material taken in the ratio (0.01–6.0): 1.0, respectively. The proposed composite charge allows to reduce electricity consumption in the initial period of smelting during the decomposition of iron oxides and to provide an earlier start of carbon oxidation, which will reduce the overall consumption of electricity for smelting and reduce the time of smelting.
