The method of adaptive rasterization involves dividing areas of the substrate into elements and forming them dark or light according to the result of comparing their weight values with the values of multilevel samples of the optical parameter of the areas of the original corresponding to the areas of the substrate containing these elements. Two types of weight distribution on the substrate are used. The first distribution is the same for all areas of the substrate and is set in such a way as to create on the copy a raster structure that ensures reproduction of the largest number of half tones of the original. Weight values of only this distribution are used when playing back background, not containing a picture, sections of the original. The second distribution of the weight values of the elements are formed for each section of the substrate dynamically over the image field from the values of the samples of the sections of the original corresponding to the given and adjacent areas of the substrate. These values are used entirely when reproducing strokes, contour and small details that have the maximum contrast on the original, which ensures a high geometric accuracy of their transfer to the copy. For blurry, implicit contours of incomplete contrast, the first and second weight values are used in a ratio determined by the “strength” of the outline or by the “detail” of the image. In the device of adaptive rasterization, a shaper of a recording signal interrupting a beam of light exposing the elements of substrate sections is connected to the main output of the video source by its first input, second and third inputs to the outputs of the first and second weights sources, respectively, and the fourth input to the output of the contour force analyzer . Moreover, the inputs of the second source and the analyzer are connected to both the main and additional outputs of the video signal source. The invention allows to improve the quality of images due to the better use of the resolution of output devices and the process of printing.
