Изобретение относится к технологии получения хлората щелочного металла путем электролиза в электролитической ячейке с мембраной анолита, содержащего раствор хлорида щелочного металла, и католита, содержащего раствор гидроксида щелочного металла. Раствор хлорида щелочного металла предварительно очищают, проводя последовательно ряд операций. Сначала осуществляются электролиз в электролитической ячейке типа "хлор-гидроксид натрия" рассола хлорида щелочного металла для получения, с одной стороны, газообразного хлора, и, с другой стороны, концентрированного раствора гидроксида щелочного металла. Полученные газообразный хлор и раствор гидроксида щелочного металла переводят в поглотительную колонку для проведения реакции между ними. Полученный таким образом солевой раствор выделяют для использования его в качестве анолита в электролитической ячейке с мембраной.
