Устройство позволяет определить толщину покрытий на различных поверхностях бесконтактным способом, включая как металлические, так и неметаллические (лаки, краски и др.) покрытия. Устройство состоит из прострельной рентгеновской трубки с магнитной фокусировкой электронного пучка, зеркала с отверстием для прохождения рентгеновского пучка, коллиматора, изготовленного из толстого свинцового стекла с отверстием специальной геометрической формы, детектора флюоресцентного излучения. Перед детектором установлены специальные фильтры на барабанном устройстве. Измеряемый образец устанавливается на предметный стол, оборудованный устройством, фиксирующим координаты (x, y) точки измерения образца в плоскости стола. На предметном столе закреплен калибровочный образец, что позволяет калибровать прибор в автоматическом режиме. В пространстве образец - детектор установлены защитные экраны, поглощающие рассеянное (фоновое) излучение. Телевизионная камера через зеркало и коллиматор, прозрачный для видимого света, с помощью оптической системы фокусируется в точке измерения толщины покрытия. A calibration sample is attached to the object table, which allows you to calibrate the device in automatic mode. Protective screens absorbing the scattered (background) radiation are installed in the sample-detector space. The television camera through the mirror and collimator, transparent to visible light, with the help of the optical system is focused at the point of measurement of the thickness of the coating. The image of the sample observed on the monitor during the measurement is combined with the image of the light and graphic information from the computer.
