The proposed electrical adapter allows you to connect an appliance with a plug of one standard to a socket of another standard. The electric adapter contains a cylindrical body with recesses for the fingers, a receptacle with openings for contacts and a plug with installed contacts on it. Three recesses for the fingers are made on the body, each recess for the fingers has the shape of a segment of the body of revolution, the axis of the body of revolution are parallel to the axis of the adapter body and are outside it. Each segment of the body of revolution has a cylindrical section facing the outlet part, and the section with decreasing diameter facing the fork part, two recesses are of identical size, and one recess has the shape of a segment of the body of revolution of larger diameter.

The proposed electrical adapter allows you to connect an appliance with a plug of one standard to a socket of another standard.

As a prototype, we have chosen an electric adapter according to the Federal Republic of Germany patent for industrial design No. M9203826, publication date 10.12.92.

The prototype electrical adapter contains a cylindrical body with recesses for the fingers, a receptacle with contact holes and a plug with contacts mounted on it.

The disadvantages of the prototype include inconvenience in use, or rather, a low ergonomic anthropometric indicator. The prototype adapter is inconveniently located in the hand, since its shape does not match the shape of the human hand.

When developing this utility model, the task was to expand the arsenal of technical means for this purpose.

The claimed electrical adapter differs from the prototype in the number and shape of the recesses for the fingers. On the body there are three recesses for the fingers. Each finger recess is in the form of a segment of a body of revolution. The axes of the bodies of revolution are parallel to the axis of the adapter housing and are located outside it. Each segment of the body of revolution has a cylindrical section facing the outlet, and a section with a decreasing diameter facing the fork. The described sections respectively perform the function of a groove for a finger and an abutment for a finger. Two recesses have identical sizes and are designed for the index and middle fingers. One recess has the shape of a segment of a body of revolution of larger diameter and is designed for the thumb. The given comparison of the notches and fingers is arbitrary. Any of these fingers can be placed in any recess.

Concrete example

An electrical adapter designed for alternately connecting to a socket made according to the Russian standard, plugs made according to European, Russian (cylindrical contacts) and American (knife contacts) standards is shown in Figs. 1, 2, 3.4.

The adapter is made in a single cylindrical housing 1 with a diameter of 33 mm. On the housing there is a socket part 2 with holes 3, 4 for contacts of various types and a male part 5 with contact pins 6. Three recesses for the user's fingers are made on the body. The recess for the thumb is indicated by pos. 7, a notch for the index finger - pos. 8, a notch for the ring finger - pos. 9.

The given comparison of the notches and fingers is arbitrary. Any of these fingers can be placed in any recess.

The geometrical shape of the recesses is illustrated in FIG. 5 (see section AA of FIG. 1). Each finger recess is in the form of a segment of a body of revolution indicated in FIG. 5 by a dashed line. The axes of the B-B bodies of revolution are parallel to the axis of the adapter housing and are located outside it. Each segment of the body of revolution has a cylindrical section 10 facing the outlet, and a section with a decreasing diameter 11 facing the fork. Accordingly, each recess has a section that performs the function of a groove for the finger 12 and a section that performs the function of an abutment for the finger 13.

The plane of symmetry of the adapter coincides with the plane of section AA. The adapter is used as follows. The adapter plugs into an outlet made according to Russian standards, which can be either ordinary or in-depth, such as in voltage stabilizers for PILOT computers. Next, a plug is connected to the adapter, which can be one of the following standards:

a) Russian plug with cylindrical contacts with a diameter of 4 mm and a distance between the axis of the contacts of 18.5 mm;

b) European plug with cylindrical contacts with a diameter of 4.8 mm and a distance between the axis of the contacts of 18.8 mm;

c) Taiwanese fork with knife contacts with a thickness and height of 1.6 × 6.3 mm, respectively, and a distance between the contacts of 11.3 mm;

d) American plug with a grounding contact and two knife contacts with a thickness and height of 1.6 × 6.3 mm, respectively, and a distance between the contacts of 11.3 MM;

When connecting the adapter to the outlet and disconnecting from the outlet, the user randomly places his fingers in the recesses. However, the most convenient (ergonomic) is the following finger placement: the thumb is in the notch 7, the index finger in the notch 8, the ring finger in the notch 9.
