Abstract
Description
The invention relates to devices for obtaining fresh water from water vapor contained in the surrounding atmospheric air, and can be used to obtain fresh water mainly in coastal areas with seas.
The prototype of the invention is the device described in [1]. The device contains a container with an open top, immersed in a body of sea water so that its walls extend beyond the surface of the water. Inside the container there is a through path for the flow of sea water, located between two opposite walls of the container and placed so that one end of the path is at the surface of the water, and the other is lower with an inclination in the range of 20-45°. The tract in cross section has the shape of a triangle, the base of which faces the bottom of the container, and the apex faces the surface of the reservoir, and the length of the base of the triangle is less than the width of the container in the direction perpendicular to the placement of the tract, and the angle between the side edges of the triangle lies in the range of 90-140°. In the immediate vicinity of the end of the duct located above, a wave energy converter is placed in sea water, fixed externally to the side surface of the container by means of a fastening device, while the location of the container at the surface of the reservoir is ensured by floats.
The disadvantage of such a device is the insufficient condensation surface area, which limits the production of a large volume of fresh water.
The purpose of the invention is to increase the condensation area of the device and increase the volume of fresh water produced.
The goal is achieved by the fact that in addition to the through path for the flow of sea water, an additional through path for the flow of sea water, identical in shape and size to the first one, is located mirrored to it with respect to the central vertical plane. In close proximity to it, at its end located above, there is an additional wave energy converter, fixed externally to the side surface of the container due to an additional fastening device. In the area where the tracts intersect, they have a common volumetric part.
1.The block diagram of the device is shown in Fig.1.
The device consists of a container 1 with an open top, immersed in a reservoir of sea water so that its walls extend beyond the surface of the water and prevent splashes from its waves from entering the container 1. Inside the container 1 there is a through path 2 for the flow of sea water, located between two opposite walls of the container 1 and placed so that one end of the path is at the surface of the water, and the other below with an inclination in the range of 20-45°. The path is shown in Fig. 2 and in cross section has the shape of a triangle, the base 3 of which faces the bottom of the container 1, and the top 4 faces the surface of the reservoir. The length of the base of the triangle is less than the width of the container 1 in the direction perpendicular to the placement of the tract 2. The angle between the side ribs 5 of the triangle lies in the range of 90-140°. In the immediate vicinity of the upper end of path 2 in sea water there is a wave energy converter 6, made, for example, in the form of a “Salter duck”. The wave energy converter 6 is attached externally to the side surface of the container 1 by means of a fastening device 7. At the bottom of the container 1 there is a vessel for fresh water 8. The location of the container 1 at the surface of the reservoir is ensured by floats (not shown in the figures). In addition to the through path 2 for the flow of sea water, mirrored to it with respect to the central vertical plane, there is an additional through path 9 for the flow of sea water, identical in shape and size to the first one. In close proximity to it, at its end located above, there is an additional wave energy converter 10, fixed externally to the side surface of the container due to an additional fastening device 11. In the area where the paths intersect, they have a common volumetric part.
The device works as follows.
Container 1 is placed in the reservoir and fixed in the required position using appropriate clamps (not shown in the figures). After container 1 is immersed in the reservoir, sea water will begin to flow through paths 2 and 9 due to their tilt at the appropriate angle under the influence of gravitational forces. Sea water will cool paths 2 and 9 in general and in particular their upper surface, thereby forming a moisture condensation zone. The continuous movement of sea water along paths 2 and 9 is carried out by wave energy converters 6 and 10, ensuring its constant injection into paths 2 and 9 from the side located near the surface of the reservoir. The moisture condensed from the air will flow into the vessel for collecting fresh water 8 due to the action of gravitational forces and the special design of paths 2 and 9, in cross-section having the shape of a triangle with a base 3, apex 4 and side ribs 5, inclined relative to the horizontal axis. Floats ensure that container 1 is always located at the surface of the reservoir. The volume of fresh water produced is increased by increasing the condensation surface area.
