Abstract
Description
The proposed device relates to geophysical exploration in offshore conditions. The problem is caused by the fact that the detail of research using electrical prospecting methods decreases with depth and usually makes it possible to identify layers and anomalies with a size of at least 20% of the depth at which these layers and anomalies are located. In the case of surveys for construction purposes in the water area, the loss of detail with increasing water depth is critical and makes electrical prospecting work on direct current practically impractical, since they do not allow identifying bodies of small size interlayers or tracing in detail the layers between wells. Increasing the detail of electrical exploration work by simply deepening the receiving-emitting lines leads not only to a significant complication of modeling the geoelectric structure of the studied section, but also to a loss of efficiency of penetration of the electric field into the studied environment, since the main part of the current, especially in the case of work in marine conditions, is concentrated in the water layer and significantly reduces the useful signal recorded by the receiver.
There is a known method of marine geoelectric prospecting with focusing of electric current (patent RU 2381531, G01V 3/15, G01V 3/04, 2008) by using four generator lines and five measuring electrodes, which eliminates the lateral influence associated with the heterogeneity of the geoelectric structure of the section.
This invention includes a specific installation with four generator lines located at the corners of the square and five receiving electrodes located in the center of the generator square. The focusing of the electric field is carried out by alternately measuring the potential difference that arises in three generator lines when current is supplied to the fourth. Then the electric field is measured in the receiving lines when electric current is supplied to one generator line, while a voltage equal to that measured at the first stage, but with the opposite sign, is supplied to the other three generator lines. This solution allows us to assume at the point of electric field measurement that the field of the generator line is uniform and lateral influence due to local inhomogeneities is completely excluded. This solution has two significant drawbacks in relation to engineering practice:
- производительность измерений существенно снижается за счет усложнения процесса генерации тока с дополнительными компенсационными мероприятиями в трех дополнительных генераторных линий;- measurement performance is significantly reduced due to the complication of the current generation process with additional compensation measures in three additional generator lines;
- снижение погрешностей за счет бокового влияния не повышает детальность исследований - чем больше глубина воды, тем меньше детальность исследований.- reducing errors due to lateral influence does not increase the detail of the research - the greater the depth of the water, the less detailed the research.
The closest technical solution is the method of marine electrical exploration of shelf zones (patent SU 1805425, G01V 1/38, G01V 3/06, 1993), carried out through the use of a special multi-electrode installation of supply and receiving electrodes, in the upper part of which supporting buoys are located ensuring zero buoyancy of the installation, and in the front and rear parts of the installation there are pressure sensors and stabilizers that keep the installation at a minimum distance (up to 1 meter) from the bottom. Maintaining the towing at a given depth ensures that the reception conditions are identical for all electrodes of the receiving line, which makes it possible to introduce a correction for the depth of the water layer and ensure the required quality of measurements. The proposed solution has the following disadvantages:
- использование метода ограничено участками с монотонным рельефом дна, что далеко не всегда наблюдается в морских условиях;- the use of the method is limited to areas with a monotonous bottom topography, which is not always observed in marine conditions;
- несмотря на повышение качества измерений за счет исключения дополнительных электрических помех, распространение электрического поля от генераторной линии происходит как в исследуемую толщу горных пород, так и в водную толщу, что значительно снижает величину измеряемого полезного сигнала, в связи с чем уменьшается глубинность исследований;- despite the improvement in the quality of measurements due to the elimination of additional electrical interference, the propagation of the electric field from the generator line occurs both in the studied rock mass and in the water column, which significantly reduces the magnitude of the measured useful signal, and therefore the depth of research is reduced;
- предлагаемое внесение поправки на водную толщу приводит к невозможности количественной оценки геоэлектрического строения, хотя этот недостаток в настоящий момент может быть решен путем трехмерного численного моделирования измеренного электрического поля.- the proposed correction for the water column makes it impossible to quantify the geoelectric structure, although this drawback can currently be solved by three-dimensional numerical modeling of the measured electric field.
The problem solved by the proposed method of marine electrical prospecting is to increase the detail of electrical prospecting work under operating conditions in the water area.
This task is achieved through the use of a special non-conductive screen located at the bottom, under which a multi-electrode electrical prospecting streamer is located. The non-conducting screen can be made of any non-conducting material, for example polyethylene, polyvinyl chloride. polyurethane, the lower part of which, if necessary, to protect against damage from the unevenness of the seabed, can be covered with a more durable material (for example, Kevlar fabric for cases of working in areas with rocky material on the bottom). When the screen size is sufficiently large compared to the length of the electrical survey streamer, the direct current field created by the generator dipoles behaves like a direct current field in a homogeneous half-space, that is, it propagates downward, since the electrical resistivity of the shielding device material is significantly higher than the electrical resistivity of the material being studied. environment. Of course, achieving absolute compliance of the conditions for performing measurements on the seabed with the conditions of a homogeneous half-space is impossible, since it will require the use of a screen of infinite length and width, however, the physical modeling performed in an artificial basin showed that with the ratio of the length of the screen and its width to the maximum separation of the electrical survey streamer located at the center of the screen equal to 1.8 and 1.3, respectively, an error in determining the apparent electrical resistivity of less than 10% is achieved compared to conditions when there is no screen and no water column in the simulated basin. In this case, the error in determining the apparent electrical resistance decreases as the generator dipole of the electrical exploration streamer decreases. Increasing the ratio of the dimensions of the shielding device to the dimensions of the electrical exploration streamer leads to a decrease in the measurement error, but significantly complicates the lowering and ascent operations.
The use of the proposed method makes it possible to perform electrical prospecting studies of the upper part of the section using direct current methods, such as electrical profiling, vertical electrical probing, electrical tomography, etc. Depending on the problem being solved and the required detail of the research, the device can be fixed on the bottom at a given point or profile, after which the necessary steps are performed measurements, then the device moves to the next point or profile, or the device is towed behind the ship in a continuous mode, while the hardware complex (meter and generator) records the electric fields and the coordinate of the movement of the ship or the device itself.
