В конце каждого часа механизм управления оконцами 2 открывает левое оконце 3, в котором появляется эмблема города, например герб Республики Марий Эл. Через несколько секунд открывается левая дверца 6, из которой появляется фигура Оленя 13 с красивыми рогами, звучит мелодия, во время которой фигура Оленя 13, перебирая ногами, идет к центру табло, где останавливается, поворачивает голову к зрителям, звучит «перезвон» (12 сек.), а затем бой часов. С каждым ударом боя часов Олень 13 поднимает и опускает переднюю ножку с серебряным копытцем.
