Abstract
Description
The invention relates to the field of environmental protection and is intended for obtaining sorbent materials for cleaning water, soil and solid surfaces from oil and oil products.
One of the priorities of the EMERCOM of Russia is the prevention and elimination of oil and oil product spills on the territory of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation. Any spill of hydrocarbons leads to a negative impact on the environment, in the event of a spill in the water area or near settlements, a negative impact on the human body is possible. These accidents can lead to an explosion or fire at industrial facilities and, as a result, to financial losses for companies and a deterioration in their position in the commodity market.
To prevent the consequences of oil spills, there is a constant search for more convenient, simple and environmentally friendly ways to clean up the damage. One of the ways to eliminate emergency spills of oil and oil products is the use of sorbents.
There are various methods for obtaining sorbents for collecting oil and oil products (RU 2487751, 2013; RU 2343972, 2009; biosorbents - RU 2656146, 2018; RU 2559554, 2015; RU 2394628, 2010), characterized by complex technologies for obtaining sorbents, as well as insufficiently high quality indicators of target sorbents.
A known method of obtaining a carbon sorbent from the stems of the Southern reed. The method includes grinding, heating at 450-500°C for 10-15 minutes until the loss of 70% of the mass, treatment with a solution of 5% nitric acid in order to extract surface mineral impurities from the sorbent, washing in water and drying at 100-150°C to constant mass (RU 2567311, 2015). The disadvantage of this method lies in the complexity of the technological scheme for obtaining this sorbent, leading, in particular, to the formation of a large amount of process water that requires additional purification.
RU2277967, 2015.A technical solution closer to the proposed method is a method for producing a carbon sorbent, described in patent RU2277967, 2015.
In this case, organic substances of natural origin are used as raw materials, including a variety of vegetable raw materials, in particular, beet pulp, sugar sorghum, sugar beets, rice, wheat, corn, rye, barley, oats, millet, bast, flax and much more.
This method includes pre-treatment of the feedstock (humidification), in particular, treatment with boiling water. This processing is carried out as follows. The raw material is immersed in boiling tap water for 1-30 minutes, then the excess water is removed. In this way, some hot water soluble components are removed at this stage. Pre-treatment of the feedstock can be carried out using volatile reagents. Thus, the raw material is moistened with volatile reagents, such as alcohol, acetone, n-heptane, n-pentane and isopentane. This pre-treatment leads to swelling and better interaction of the starting material with the oxidizing environment. Then, said treated raw material is heated in an oxidizing medium, in particular oxygen, at a temperature of 80-700°C, preferably 110-300°C, for 0.27-24.0 h, while passing the flow of the oxidizing medium over the treated raw material in such a way that said organic matter is oxidized, and the resulting moisture and volatile substances are removed by a stream of an oxidizing medium. Then, the product obtained by heat treatment is cooled to ambient temperature.
The disadvantages of this method are the presence of such stages as contacting the feedstock with hot water and alcohol, the duration and complexity of the heat treatment used, which leads, among other things, to the need to purify the resulting process water, to additional energy costs. At the same time, the sorbents obtained in this way have low values of sorption capacity. Thus, the value of the sorption capacity of the sorbent based on wood chips, bagasse and sugar sorghum is up to 6 ml oil/g.
Thus, the known method is not effective enough.
The technical problem of the present invention is to increase the efficiency of the method for obtaining a sorbent for collecting oil and oil products, namely, to simplify the technology for obtaining a sorbent and improve its sorption properties.
This problem is solved by the described method for obtaining a sorbent for collecting oil and oil products by grinding Sosnovsky's hogweed, drying the crushed raw materials at a temperature of 270-350 ° C, a pressure of 1.1-3.5 atm, for 2.5-3.0 h and subsequent carrying out thermal carbonization of the drying product in the open air at a temperature of 300-600°C for 10-15 minutes to obtain the target product with a particle size of 0.3-5.0 mm.
The achieved technical result consists in optimizing the set of technological processes for obtaining a sorbent, which ensures the simplification of these processes and an increase in the sorption properties of the resulting sorbent.
The described method is carried out as follows.
The authors of the invention for the first time established the possibility of using toxic vegetable raw materials - Sosnovsky's hogweed as a raw material for obtaining an effective sorbent for oil and oil products.
The specified plant, with its growth, penetrates into natural ecosystems, almost completely destroying them.
Hogweed Sosnovsky is harvested both by mechanized devices and manually, observing the safety rules, since the juice of this plant is toxic and poisonous and, when in contact with human skin, causes burns due to the presence of organic compounds such as coumarins and furanocoumarins in it.
The collected raw materials are sorted.
After collecting the biomass of Sosnovsky's hogweed, it is desirable to treat the collection areas of the latter with chemicals such as, for example, Tornado Extra, Agrokiller, in order to reduce the spread of this plant and ensure effective control of a plant dangerous to humans.
The collected cow parsnip is crushed, preferably up to 1.0-6.0 mm. Then the crushed raw material is dried at a temperature of 270-350°C, preferably 300-320°C and a pressure of 1.1-3.5 atm, mainly 3.0-3.2 atm for 2.5-3.0 hours. The drying product has a size of 0.5-5.0 mm. Next, heat treatment is carried out - carbonization of the drying product in the presence of oxygen in the open air in metal containers, for 10-15 minutes, preferably 12 minutes. The carbonization temperature is 300-600°C, preferably 500-550°C. As a result of this process, the particle size of the processed product is reduced. The target sorbent has a particle size of 0.3-5.0 mm, preferably 0.3-3.0 mm.
Said sorbent is packed in hermetic bags, in which the sorbent is also stored and delivered to the accident site.
The sorbent obtained by the above described method is used for liquidation of emergency spills of oil and oil products both on land and in the water area, as well as for industrial water treatment.
To eliminate spills of oil and oil products, the sorbent is evenly distributed over the area of the oil slick or oil slick. The time of active absorption of contaminants by the sorbent is 1.0-1.5 hours. The sorbent with absorbed oil and oil products is collected from the surface by any mechanical means and disposed of, in particular, by using it as a fuel for thermal power plants. Slurry pumps can be used to collect the sorbent that has absorbed oil and oil products from the surface of the water, and vacuum machines are applicable for removal from land. The described sorbent is harmless to the environment.
Below are examples illustrating the claimed method, but not limiting it.
To determine the qualitative characteristics of the resulting sorbent (examples 1-3) in the laboratory, tests are carried out to determine the sorption capacity and buoyancy.
The sorption capacity test is carried out as follows.
In three glass test tubes of the same volume, each of which contains 300 mg: the first - oil (density 860 kg / m 3 ), the second - engine oil (density 850 kg / m 3), the third - diesel fuel (density 840 kg / m 3 ), add the sorbent obtained by the described method in portions of 3-5 mg until the hydrocarbons are completely absorbed by the latter. Under the sorption capacity understand the amount of substance that can absorb the sorbent per unit of its mass.
The buoyancy test is carried out as follows.
100.Three glass tubes are filled with water (1000 kg/m 3 ). A layer of oil (density 860 kg/m 3 ) is poured onto the water surface of the first test tube, a layer of machine oil (density 850 kg/m 3 ) is poured onto the water surface of the second test tube, diesel fuel (density 840 kg/m 3 ) is poured onto the water surface of the third test tube. ). Then, the sorbent obtained by the described method is added to these test tubes until the hydrocarbons are completely absorbed by the latter. At certain intervals (5 minutes, 2 hours, a day, 3 days, a week, a month), the amount of the sorbent settled on the bottom of the test tube and the amount of the remaining sorbent on the hydrocarbon surface from its initial amount (in percent) are determined. Buoyancy is understood as the ratio of the weight of the sorbent floating on the surface to the weight of the initial sorbent. To obtain a buoyancy value expressed as a percentage, the value resulting from the mass ratio is multiplied by 100.
1.Example 1

Sorption capacity in experiments with engine oil is 13.9 g/g, buoyancy 90% after 2 hours. Sorption capacity when tested with diesel fuel is 8.8 g/g, buoyancy 87% after 2 hours.
3.Example 3
Sosnovsky's hogweed is crushed to a particle size of 1.0-6.0 mm. The crushed raw material is dried at a temperature of 310°C, a pressure of 3.2 atm, for 2.5 hours. The particle size of the raw material after drying is 0.5-4 mm.
Then heat treatment is carried out - carbonization of the drying product in the presence of oxygen in the open air in metal containers for 12 minutes. The carbonization temperature is 600°C. As a result of this process, the particle size of the processed product is reduced. The target sorbent has a particle size of 0.3-3.0 mm.
Sorption capacity in tests with oil is 18.3 g/g, buoyancy 95% after 2 hours. Sorption capacity in experiments with machine oil is 14.2 g/g, buoyancy 93% after 2 hours. Sorption capacity when tested with diesel fuel is 9.4 g/g, buoyancy 90% after 2 hours.
Thus, from the above examples 1-3 it follows that the obtained sorbent, with a high degree of buoyancy, has a greater sorption capacity, on average, more than 50% Rel., compared with the sorbent obtained by a known method.
The table presents comparative data on such parameters as "sorption capacity" and "buoyancy" of the sorbent obtained by the described method and known analogues - organic sorbent - Peat Sorb, made on the basis of natural peat moss and organic sorbent - MOX sorbent, obtained from slightly decomposed sphagnum moss peat.
From the presented data it follows that the sorbent for collecting oil and oil products obtained by the proposed method (example 3) is more effective than known analogues. Thus, at higher buoyancy rates, the sorption capacity of this sorbent compared to known analogues is higher, on average, by more than 50% rel.
The sorbent obtained by the described method is harmless to the environment, after operation it is disposed of without the release of toxic substances into the atmosphere.
Thus, the described method provides a simplification of the technological scheme of its implementation and an increase in the sorption properties of the resulting sorbent.
In addition, carrying out the described method leads to a decrease in the catastrophically rapid spread of hogweed in the territory of the Russian Federation.
