Description

The claimed invention relates to the field of hand-held small arms, and more precisely to folding butts for it.

The device is intended for use primarily on submachine guns and assault rifles, which require compactness in view of the conditions of their use.

The purpose of using a folding stock in small arms is, first of all, to ensure the compactness of the weapon when carrying it. The folding stock itself is a fairly simple detail and, despite all the variety of shapes and sizes, they differ only in the way they are folded.

The two main groups of folding butts are actually folding ones, which, by means of a hinge joint, fold to the side of the weapon (ultrasound, Walter MP-L and MP-K, AEK-918, PP-2000), from above (Erma MP-58, Scorpio, PP91, SR .2M "Veresk", OTs.02 "Cypress") or from below (MP-38, PPS, P-63) and telescopic-retractable butts, the stops of which move along the axis of the weapon (M3A1, Ingram M-10, MAT-49, AEK-919 "Kashtan").

All of them are united by the presence of the butt plate, as a separate element, even if the butt is made of a solid metal bar or cast in a single mold.

The straight butt stops are located along the axis of the weapon and in the folded position more or less fit into the dimensions, slightly protruding beyond the boundaries of the body, but the butt plate located perpendicular to the common axis of the weapon, in the folded position of the butt, invariably stands out, protruding beyond the dimensions and prevents convenient access to the controls ( shutter handle, magazine latch, trigger, fire translator), and also adds inconvenience when worn.

On some samples, the butt plate also folds, having an additional hinge joint at the junction of the stops and the butt plate. (AKMS stock, MR-40, P-63, Ingram M-10), which also has its drawbacks.

An example of this is the Kalashnikov assault rifle, a folding stock on which, initially folded down and the butt plate lay under the forearm. However, in later modifications, the butt folds to the side, to the left or right side. In the same version, the stock was switched to the modern AK74-S.

The objective of the claimed invention is to improve the functionality of folding butts of small arms.

The problem is solved by placing the butt plate on the back of the pistol grip fire control.

If you look at the side projection of the weapon with the butt, you will notice that the butt plate is flush with the pistol grip (in the horizontal plane).

On many models of weapons with telescopic retractable butts, the butt pad in the folded position is located directly behind the handle, a few centimeters from it, adding to the dimensions and preventing a comfortable grip on the handle. (H&K MP-5, UZI).

If you move the butt plate forward a little, all the way into the handle, and fix it on it, the gain in size will be obvious.

The essence of the invention is illustrated by illustrations.

Thus, the butt plate of the butt, in its folded position, is combined with the grip and is an overlay for the fire control pistol grip, resting against the rear side of it or grasping the grip.

As can be seen from the illustration, the recoil pad practically does not protrude beyond the dimensions of the weapon and does not interfere with access to the controls.

This invention will be very relevant for concealed carry weapons, as well as for personal weapons of crews of armored vehicles, gunners, pilots (in the NATO classification - PDW).

The disadvantages of the invention include a constantly changing thickness of the handle, which causes a change in the usual grip.

Considering that shooting without a stop (without a stock) is shooting offhand, not aimed, so a comfortable grip is not critical here.

It will also be difficult to apply this scheme to submachine guns with a safety key on the back of the handle (UZI).

The closest, in fact, analogue to this invention, perhaps, is the butt for a pistol designed by Benke-Timan (Hungary), which was not widely used in its time.

The analogs closer in essence to the claimed invention are unknown to the author.

A folding butt plate for small arms, consisting of a butt plate, a retainer, a retractable telescopic or hinged-folding stop, characterized in that the butt plate is simultaneously an overlay on the rear side of the pistol grip for controlling the fire and in the folded position of the butt grabs the handle or abuts against it, forming a single whole.
