Abstract
Description
The invention relates to the field of nuclear energy, and in particular to the field of spent nuclear fuel (SNF) processing, and can be used in extraction technological schemes for its processing.
A known method of processing high level waste (HLW) from the reprocessing of spent nuclear fuel with fractionation of radionuclides (patent RU 2355057, publ. 05/10/2009, Bull. No. 13), including processing concentrated highly active solutions with an extractant containing TBP in an inert diluent, with the conversion of transplutonium and rare earths elements (TPE and REE) extract and their separation from the cesium-strontium fraction by dumping it into the raffinate fractionation. In this case, the HLW solutions are neutralized before extraction with alkali metal hydroxides or carbonates to pH = 1 and the obtained extract of REE and TPE is washed with a solution of aluminum nitrate with the addition of a washing solution to the main aqueous stream. This method is taken by us as a prototype.
2005, вып.2(65), с. 107-111) или японской NEXT (Nomura, К., Shibata, A., Aoshima, A., Study on U Crystallization for Advanced Reprocessing. Proc. Int. Conf. NUCEF'2001 (31.10-02.11.2001, Tokai-Mura, Japan). The authors of this invention do not indicate which HLW from which the process is processed. Judging by the example in the prototype, this is a product with a specific volume of ~ 0.5 m 3 / t of SNF, that is, ~ 10 times less than in the classical Purex process (4-6 m 3 / t of SNF) (see. Processing of nuclear fuel Edited by S. Stoler and R. Richard, Atomizdat, Moscow: 1964, p. 184-230). It is possible that such a volume and composition of the raffinate is tied to the crystallization-extraction technology of the Russian REPA type studied for a long time (Volk V.I., Vatulin A.V., Bakhrushin A.Yu., et al. New radiochemical technologies for processing spent nuclear fuel. Questions Atomic Science and Technology. Series: Materials Science and New Materials. 2005, issue 2 (65), pp. 107-111) or the Japanese NEXT (Nomura, K., Shibata, A., Aoshima, A., Study on U Crystallization for Advanced Reprocessing. Proc. Int. Conf. NUCEF'2001 (10/31/02/11, Tokai-Mura, Japan). JAERI. 2002. p.213-216), which provides for the crystallization of the bulk of uranium from solution a SNF of uranyl nitrate hexahydrate, followed by extraction of plutonium and uranium residues from the mother liquor. This technology did not leave the stage of laboratory experiments because of the difficulties in clarifying the initial solution.
The method for processing HLW according to the prototype is illustrated by the flow chart shown in Figure 1, which shows the blocks of extractors in which the extraction of TPE and REE with washing of the extract is carried out sequentially, as well as the necessary re-extraction of TPE and REE and carbonate regeneration of the extractant and the relationship between them, while solid lines indicate streams of aqueous solutions, and dashed lines indicate organic streams.
1.The compositions and costs of technological flows, as well as the relative material balance of the process are presented in table 1.
The disadvantage of the prototype method is precipitation during neutralization of HLW, which was overcome by the authors later (patent RU 2474895, publ. 02/10/2013, Bull. No. 4) by introducing at the stage of neutralization of hydrogen peroxide in the processed HLW solution. However, this does not overcome the main disadvantage of the prototype, namely the receipt of a large amount of salted secondary HLW in the form of a raffinate fractionation of TPE and REE from primary HLW, which does not allow the separation of TPE and REE in a single extraction cycle.
This extraction cycle in the prototype and analogue is autonomous with its own extractant regeneration unit, where fresh sodium-containing reagents are used, which additionally increase the volume of vitrified waste, which is also a disadvantage of these methods. A disadvantage of the analogue is also the ability of hydrogen peroxide to self-decompose, catalyzed by iron present in all technological solutions as a product of equipment corrosion and noble metals - actinide fission products.
The objective of the present invention is to provide a method for treating HLW as part of the spent nuclear fuel reprocessing technology, which allows extraction fractionation of REE and TPE with a single extractor with the first SNF reprocessing cycle while minimizing the amount of refined raffinate sent for curing.
To achieve the technical result indicated in the task of the invention, it is proposed to perform the following sequence of actions:
The fractionation of rare-earth and transplutonium elements (TPE and REE) with the removal of the cesium-strontium fraction into the raffinate and the subsequent extraction of uranium, plutonium, neptunium, zirconium and / or technetium and their separation within the framework of the modified Purex process is carried out in a single extraction cycle using a common extraction cycle extractant with a concentration of not less than 40% by volume, moreover, the extraction of REE and TPE nitrates is carried out from the bottom residue of the evaporation of the highly active Purex process raffinate or plutonium extraction raffinate from An ode to the refining of fuel containing plutonium for subsequent use at nuclear power plants, the acidity of which is reduced to a residual content of 0.1-2.0 mol / L of nitric acid by extraction after previous dissolution in a still solution from evaporation of the raffinate of metals, alloys, oxides or carbonates of metals, the nitrates of which are used as a salting out agent, and / or with neutralization of the bottom solution with a destructible base, and / or destroying part of the excess nitric acid by treatment of the bottom solution with non-saline a reducing agent, moreover, during the extraction for the fractionation of TPE and REE, a solution of nitric acid is fed into the extractant input zone. In this case, the flow from washing the extract with the solution was removed separately with its additional washing with the extractant, moreover, TPE and cerium REE are removed with the flow of the washing solution, and yttrium REE are removed with the extract for the operation of reextraction.
TPE is also extracted from the raffinate from reprocessing of stored nuclear materials, including without evaporation in case of salinity.
To reduce the acidity of the solution, before the extraction of TPE and REE and the formation of a salting out agent, metals from the series iron, copper, zinc, calcium, magnesium, and also their alloys, carbonates, or oxides are dissolved in the resulting concentrate. At the same time, the acidity of the bottom solution from evaporation of the raffinate after SNF processing, which contains nitrates of the salting out metal nitrate, is also reduced by breaking down the nitrate ion with formalin, including during the evaporation process.
For fractionation of TPE and REE, an extractant is used containing 40-70% TBP in a paraffin diluent, taking into account the needs combined with fractionation of the Purex process and hydrodynamic conditions at the stages of reextraction in the fractionation process and in the Purex process with a change in the flow rate of the extractant in the Purex process TBP concentration while maintaining the structure of the Purex process. At the same time, the extractant consumption for fractionation can be less than that required for the Purex process, and the missing amount enters with the extractant stream for additional processing of the washing solution of the TPE and REE extract and / or is additionally added to the Purex process for extraction, and the concentration of the salting out agent for TPE extraction and REE is selected based on the concentration of TBP in the extractant.
In figures 2 and 3 shows a schematic flow chart with various production versions of the Purex process in the framework of the claimed method.

In the next block, uranium is re-extracted with acidified water (product 175), as a result of which the uranium is removed into a uranium re-extract (product 179), and the extractant containing traces of metals and degradation products (product 176) enters the extractant regeneration unit.
712.In the extractant regeneration unit, countercurrent washing of the extractant with a carbonate solution is carried out (product 185). It is carried out in a “mild” mode at pH ~ 8, using methylamine carbonate or sodium bicarbonate (Patent RU 2473144, Bull. 2, 2013). The carbonate tailing solution (product 183) is transferred to the medium-active waste concentration unit, and the regenerated recycle extractant is recycled in the form of

In the extraction unit of TPE and REE, TPE and REE are extracted using a standardized extractant (prod. 712) and the extract is washed from the cesium-strontium fraction with a solution of the same salting-out agent (product 715) similarly to Example 1. To prevent the salting-out agent from hydrolyzing in the first step along the extractant a solution of nitric acid is dosed (prod. 707), to increase the purification of TPE and REE from molybdenum and zirconium, a complexone solution is dosed at the power input stage (prod. 705). The raffinate (product 713), containing a salting-out agent, molybdenum and a cesium-strontium fraction, is passed for curing and further curing, and the TPE and REE extract (product 714) is fed to the TPE re-extraction unit with partial separation of TPE and REE.
The washing process of the extract is combined with a partial separation of TPE and REE, which is carried out using a solution of nitric acid with a salting out agent - ammonium nitrate (product 725), supplied to the end of the block. The extract is washed with a stream of circulating extractant (product 722), supplied to the first stage, from which the reextract of TPE and cerium REE; yttrium REE extract (product 724) is also removed from the block for reextraction of yttrium REE. Reextract (prod. 729) is transferred to the manufacture of the matrix for long-term controlled storage.
An extractant (product 726 = 112) containing 50% TBP is fed by gravity to the first stage by gravity from the calculation of saturation (150 ± 5) g / l in U and Pu. In this block, technetium is also extracted in conjunction with uranium. The extract is washed in the duct with washing solutions (
The plutonium and neptunium re-extraction unit performs electrochemical re-extraction of plutonium, neptunium, as well as technetium using DTPA as a complexon for neptunium and plutonium supplied to the end of the unit in the form of product 125 (Melentyev AB, Mashkin AN, Tugarina O .V. Et al. The influence of some reducing and complexing reagents on the extraction behavior of technetium in the TBP – HNO 3 system . Radiochemistry. 2011, v. 53, No. 3, pp. 219-224). The re-extract is washed from uranium with a circulating extractant (product 122) and transferred to refining operations. Uranium extract (product 124) enters the uranium re-extraction operation.
In the next block, uranium is re-extracted with acidified water (product 175), as a result of which uranium is discharged into a uranium re-extract (product 179), and the extractant containing traces of metals and degradation products (product 176) enters the extractant regeneration unit.
712.In the extractant regeneration unit, countercurrent washing of the extractant with a carbonate solution is carried out (product 185). The carbonate tailing solution (product 183) is transferred to the medium-active waste concentration unit, and the regenerated recycle extractant is returned to the cycle in the form of
The raffinate of the uranium and plutonium extraction unit is treated by evaporation, reducing acidity using formalin (Patent RU 2596816, Bull. No. 25, 2016), finally neutralized by dissolving the copper metal powder (product 700), and in the form of
In the TPE and REE extraction unit in centrifugal extractors, TPE and REE are extracted using a standardized extractant - 50% TBP (prod. 712) with 2 mol / L of copper nitrate as a salting out agent and the extract is washed from the cesium-strontium fraction with a solution of the same salting out agent ( product 715). In order to prevent hydrolysis of the salting-out agent, a solution of nitric acid is dosed in the first step along the extractant (cont. 707), and to increase the purification of TPE and REE from molybdenum and zirconium, a complexone solution is dosed in the step of power input (cont. 705). The block raffinate (product 713), containing a salting-out agent, molybdenum and a cesium-strontium fraction, is passed for processing and further curing, and the TPE and REE extract (product 714) is fed to the TPE re-extraction unit.
In the TPE and REE stripping unit, TPE and REE are reextracted with weak nitric acid as a stripping agent for TPE and REE (prod. 725), fed to the end of the unit. TPE and REE reextract (prod. 729) are removed from the first stage of the block and transferred to controlled storage. Reverse extractant is removed from the last stage of the block re-extraction TPE and REE and in the form of prod. 112 sent to the extraction unit of neptunium, plutonium and uranium.
The technical result of the proposed method is that in a single extraction cycle using a single extractant, uranium, plutonium, neptunium, as well as TPE and REE fractions, are extracted; Separately, radioactive cesium and strontium are excreted in the fractionation raffinate.
