Abstract
Description
The invention relates to the field of power engineering and is intended for use in liquid cooling systems using chillers - chillers (hereinafter referred to as chiller systems) with a closed circuit, which require high reliability and uninterrupted operation, including in chiller systems that were not originally intended for uninterrupted operation cooling.
The main components of these chiller systems, as a rule, are cooled equipment, a chiller, a pump group consisting of at least two circulation pumps operating alternately and controlled by a programmable chiller controller in standby mode, an expansion tank, a hydraulic accumulator and pipelines connecting the listed components into a single closed cooling circuit, through which the coolant circulates.
It is a well-known method when, to protect power outages, the chiller and circulation pumps are connected through an uninterruptible power supply (UPS), where electric energy is stored in batteries, or an alternative energy source is used, in particular, according to the principle described in patent application US 2007/0132317 . The estimated operating time of the system during a power outage is determined by the parameters of the UPS.
The main disadvantage of the described method is the need to use an expensive specialized high-power UPS with significant dimensions and weight, since the chiller compressor motor has high power consumption and significant inrush current. In addition, the described method does not provide uninterrupted cooling in case of failure or stop of the chiller.
A known method, free from these drawbacks, is known (Patent RU 2592883 C2), when a backup cooling device is built into a closed liquid circuit to perform the indicated result, which includes a compact cooling tank, which includes many autonomous small-sized cold batteries, the auxiliary cooling unit is made with the ability to cool multiple small cold accumulators during the charging phase, a valve configured to selectively connect the reservoir cooling the main cooling device during the recoil phase such that the plurality of small-sized battery provides cold heat for cooling the coolant for the primary cooling device. At the same time, the equipment is cooled in emergency mode due to the cold stored in the cold accumulators, and for uninterrupted cooling a small power UPS is required.
The disadvantage of this method is the high complexity of the design, expressed in a large number of additional elements, a complex algorithm of operation, the need to control using a programmable controller, which increases the probability of failure and the total cost of the system.
As the closest analogue, the method (US Pat. No. 6,334,331 B1) is selected, which consists in the fact that controlled shut-off valves divide the cooling circuit into a main part and an additional part related to the equipment to be cooled; parallel to the additional part of the circuit, a buffer tank with a coolant supply is connected, additional circulation pumps are built into the additional part of the circuit, which are powered from the UPS, and the chiller from the UPS is not supplied.
In the event of predictable power outages or stopping the chiller, the part of the circuit related to the equipment to be cooled is separated by shut-off valves from the main circuit, after which the circulation with the help of additional circulation pumps takes place through the buffer tank, and the equipment is cooled by thermal inertia of the coolant located in the pipelines of the additional part of the circuit and buffer capacity. The estimated time for uninterrupted cooling in this case depends on the total mass of the coolant and, without taking into account heat losses, can be approximately determined by the formula:
где t - расчетное время, мин;where t is the estimated time, min;
m - общая масса теплоносителя в контуре, кг;m is the total mass of the coolant in the circuit, kg;
4200 s - specific heat of the coolant for water equal to 4200
Т1 - исходная температура теплоносителя, К;T1 - initial coolant temperature, K;
Т2 - предельно допустимая температура теплоносителя, К;T2 - the maximum allowable temperature of the coolant, K;
P is the heat dissipation power of the cooled equipment, watts.
Since the energy consumption of circulation pumps is much lower than the energy consumption of the chiller, low-power UPSs are used to power them.
This method is adopted as a prototype of the invention.
The disadvantages of the described method are: connecting the buffer tank parallel to the additional part of the cooling circuit, which in normal mode reduces the flow through the cooled equipment; additional weight and size indicators due to buffer capacity; the need to control shut-off valves and additional circulation pumps using a programmable controller or operator action, which increases the likelihood of failure.
The technical problem of the invention is the creation of a simple, reliable, with small weight and size indicators method of uninterrupted cooling in chiller systems with a closed liquid cooling circuit in case of predicted power outages, failure, stopping of the chiller or circulation pump; including in existing chiller systems that were not originally intended for uninterrupted cooling without changing the factory design of such systems.
For the method of ensuring uninterrupted cooling in chiller systems with a closed liquid cooling circuit, the main essential features common with the prototype are identified, such as: chiller, expansion tank, hydraulic accumulator, pump group, consisting of at least two circulation pumps, cooled equipment and connecting them pipelines in which a coolant circulates in a closed circuit.
The posed technical problem is solved due to the fact that the coolant is circulated by a pump group consisting of at least two circulation pumps, the equipment is cooled in the event of predicted interruptions in the operation of the system for a given time due to the thermal inertia of the total mass of coolant system, which is supplied from the buffer tank without cooling by the chiller, while the circulation pumps are powered from the uninterruptible power supply and the chiller is not powered from an uninterruptible power supply. According to the claimed invention, the circulation pumps are controlled by a control module integrated in the electrical circuits, which is fed from an uninterruptible power supply, and all series-connected hydraulic elements of a closed liquid cooling circuit are used as a buffer tank.
When solving the problem in this way, the cooling circuit is not divided into the main and additional parts, as in the prototype, with the help of additional hydraulic elements, for example, switching, shut-off valves and control equipment necessary for their operation.
From formula (1) it follows that the total mass of the coolant in the closed loop of the system should be sufficient to ensure the estimated time for uninterrupted cooling, necessary to eliminate the malfunction or safe stop of the cooled equipment. If this condition is not fulfilled, the total mass of the coolant can be increased to the required value by incorporating an additional buffer tank into the circuit.
The principle of operation is presented on the hydraulic (Fig. 1) and electrical (Fig. 2) circuits:
The liquid cooling chiller system contains the following hydraulic elements:
The work is carried out as follows: In normal operation,
In the event of a malfunction of the working circulation pump,
The technical result of the invention is the use of the total mass of the coolant circulating in the system in series-connected hydraulic elements instead of parallel connection of the buffer tank, which, in turn, made it possible to do without additional equipment, for example, switching or shut-off valves and the necessary control equipment for their operation.
