Abstract
Description
The invention relates to ultrasonic methods for measuring the flow velocity and flow rate of water in open water bodies, for example, in a river or water channel.
The known ultrasonic method / 1-3 / measuring the velocity V of the water flow based on the emission of pulses of ultrasonic sinusoidal waves from one side of the reservoir to the other perpendicular to the direction of water movement, recording the time difference of the forward t 1 and reverse t 2 ultrasound propagation in the water in the river cross section and calculating the average speed V of the water flow from the expression:
где:Where:
d - уровень воды в водоеме;d is the water level in the pond;
L is the distance between spaced ultrasonic transducers mounted on the bottom and on the water surface of opposite sides of the reservoir, respectively.
The flow rate W of water can be determined from the condition
Where - the cross-sectional area of water in the channel of the reservoir.
The disadvantage of this method / 1-3 / measurement is the reduced accuracy of measuring the speed V of the water flow. To ensure accuracy ≤1% of measurements, the absolute error of measuring the time difference Δt = t 2 -t 1 should not exceed 3⋅10 -11 s. Measuring such a time difference requires a relatively sophisticated measurement device. In addition, the cross-sectional area ΔS of the water and the distribution ΔV of the flow velocity in the channel of the reservoir in the open volume depend on the topography of the bottom and are difficult to measure. This further reduces the accuracy of the measurements of the flow velocity and water flow in river beds.
The known ultrasonic method / 4 / measuring the velocity V of the water flow based on the basis of ultrasonic sounding of water in a reservoir from one shore to another perpendicular to the direction of water movement, measuring the phase difference Δϕ of ultrasound and calculating the velocity V of the water flow from the expression:
где:Where:
- частота ультразвука; - frequency of ultrasound;
α - угловое направление ультразвука (угловой наклон линии L относительно дна водоема);α is the angular direction of ultrasound (the angular slope of the line L relative to the bottom of the reservoir);
C is the speed of ultrasound in water.
(2)In this case, the water consumption W, as in the previous technical solution, can be determined from the condition (2)
W=V⋅ΔS,W = V⋅ΔS,
Where - the cross-sectional area of water in the channel of the reservoir.
A disadvantage of the known ultrasonic method / 4 / measuring the speed of water according to / 5 / is the difficulty of application in rivers with an extended channel. This is due to the following. First, because of the increased L of the ultrasound propagation path, it is difficult to receive the transmitted ultrasonic wave, and the received pulse takes the form of a “bell” due to a serious attenuation problem. An increase in the intensity of the ultrasonic wave and / or a decrease in the frequency of the pulse to compensate for the attenuation leads to the appearance of cavitation, which prevents the propagation of ultrasound. Secondly, the amplitude of the ultrasonic wave during cavitation strongly pulsates, as a result of which the ultrasonic wave scatters and reflects due to various eddy currents, changes in the concentration of floating particles, and changes in water temperature. The strong attenuation and pulsation of the ultrasonic pulse create many errors in fixing the moment when the ultrasonic pulse arrives. Thus, the error in measuring the flow velocity increases.
If L = 10 m, V = 3 m / s, and C = 1500 m / s in a relatively small open channel, the phase difference Δϕ is as follows:
Since the phase difference exceeds π radians, it is not possible to unambiguously measure the flow rate based on the measurement of the phase difference. Another disadvantage of the known ultrasonic measuring method from condition (3) requires a separate measurement of the speed of sound in a particular reservoir.
In addition, the cross-sectional area ΔS of the water and the distribution ΔV of the flow velocity in the channel of the reservoir in the open volume depend on the topography of the bottom and are difficult to measure. This additionally, as in the previous technical solution, reduces the accuracy of measuring the flow velocity and water flow in river channels.
A known ultrasonic method / 5 / measuring the velocity V of the water flow based on a combination of the method / 2 /, which records the difference in the propagation times of ultrasonic vibrations, and the method / 4 /, which records the phase difference, depending on the size of the interval L, on which the flow velocity is measured.
The specified method / 5 / for measuring the flow rate of water includes measuring at least two differences in the propagation times of undamped ultrasonic sine waves in opposite directions at an angle α to the direction of the flow velocity and calculating the flow velocity. In this case, amplitude modulation of the undamped ultrasonic sine wave of the carrier frequency is carried out. frequency signal modulations less than carrier frequency during the period and propagating the amplitude-modulated signals in opposite directions at an angle α to the direction of the flow velocity. Then, the received amplitude-modulated signals are demodulated after they are propagated in opposite directions at an angle α to the direction of the flow velocity. To detect a frequency signal f m amplitude modulation, measure at least two time intervals between the moment of amplitude modulation of the carrier signal f c signal with a frequency f m modulation and the moment of detection of the signal f m amplitude modulation from the demodulated signal after the propagation of ultrasonic sinusoidal waves in opposite directions with an angle α to the direction of the flow velocity. Then, based on the measured time intervals t 1 , t 2 , the flow velocity is calculated from the expression
при этом частоту fм сигнала амплитудной модуляции выбирают из следующего выражения:wherein the frequency f m of the amplitude modulation signal is selected from the following expression:
где fp - максимальная частота пульсации затухания в момент распространения ультразвуковой волны в текучей среде;where f p is the maximum frequency of the ripple attenuation at the time of propagation of the ultrasonic wave in the fluid;
Cmax - максимальная скорость звука в текучей среде;C max - maximum speed of sound in a fluid medium;
L - интервал распространения ультразвука;L is the propagation interval of ultrasound;
Vmax - максимальная ожидаемая скорость течения на интервале L;V max - the maximum expected flow rate in the interval L;
α - угол между направлением распространения ультразвуковой волны и направлением скорости течения.α is the angle between the direction of propagation of the ultrasonic wave and the direction of the flow velocity.
In this case, the determination of the difference in propagation times intended for measuring the flow velocity without transmitting / receiving an ultrasonic pulse includes the steps of performing amplitude modulation of the carrier undamped harmonic ultrasonic sinusoidal wave to a lower frequency and transmitting amplitude-modulated signals whenever measuring the propagation time of ultrasound, carry out demodulation of the received signals, detect or discriminate the amplitude-modulated signal and measure the time interval between the moments of amplitude modulation of the propagated wave and demodulation of the received amplitude-modulated signal. The determination of the phase difference independent of the speed of sound includes the steps of amplitude modulating the ultrasonic wave at a lower frequency if the phase difference between the ultrasonic waves transmitted in the direction opposite to the flow velocity exceeds π radian, going beyond the measurement range of a conventional difference discriminator phase, and becomes equal to m π + β , and transmit / receive the amplitude-modulated signal, measure the phase difference between the amplitude-modulated signals and between the transferred ultrasonic waves and get m, and provide increased accuracy of measuring the phase difference between the transferred ultrasonic waves. For example, at L = 10 m, α = 45 °, C max = 1500 m / s, Thus, you can select f m in the range of 10-20 kHz.
Given the transient effects of the ultrasonic wave, it is not necessary to select a higher signal frequency f m amplitude modulation. Moreover, the expression for measuring the velocity V of the water flow takes the following form:
The determination of the flow velocity from expression (6) is technically advantageous, since it is not necessary to measure the speed of sound separately, even if the speed of sound undergoes significant changes. But measuring the flow rate on the basis of expressions (6) only if the error Δψ phase differences Δψ 1 and 2 is very low - so that it can be ignored.
A disadvantage of the known ultrasonic method / 5 / is the difficulty of implementation. In addition, due to the horizontal ultrasonic sounding of the reservoir (the installation of ultrasonic sensors on opposite sides of the reservoir), the method of measuring the velocity V of the water flow does not take into account the topography and depth of the bottom of the reservoir, as well as the distribution of the velocity and volume of water flows in the cross section of the river channel.
The latter does not allow to obtain sufficient accuracy in measuring the speed and flow rate of water in a pond.
Известен ультразвуковой способ /6/ измерения скорости V течения и расхода воды в открытом водоеме, заключающийся в пошаговом с временным интервалом Δt ультразвуковом измерений скорости воды в поперечном сечении русла водоема с борта судна, в вертикальном зондировании толщи воды ультразвуковыми импульсами и регистрации, на каждом шаге n=1…N, где N - общее количество измерений, текущей величины горизонтального угла Δβ(n) сноса судна течением воды, вычисление текущей глубины dn водоема, и радиальной скорости ΔVn течения воды по временной задержке и допплеровскому сдвигу частоты ответных сигналов, отраженных от дна водоема относительно частоты зондирующих ультразвуковых импульсов соответственно, интегрирование результатов пошаговых измерений и определение средней скорости Стечения воды и расхода W воды в поперечном сечении русла водоема на основе интегрирования и усреднения результатов пошаговых измерений численных значений ΔVn, Δβ(n) и dn.The known ultrasonic method / 6 / measuring the velocity V of the current and water flow in an open reservoir, consisting in stepwise ultrasonic measurements of the water velocity in the cross section of the channel of the reservoir from the ship’s side, with a time interval Δt, in the vertical sounding of the water column with ultrasonic pulses and recording, at each step n = 1 ... N, where N - total number of measurements, the current value of horizontal angle Δβ (n) over the water vessel drift, calculating the current depth dn of the reservoir, and the radial velocity of the water flow ΔV n time delay and Doppler frequency shift of the response signals reflected from the bottom of the reservoir relative to the frequency of the ultrasonic probing pulses, respectively, the integration results of incremental measurements and determining an average velocity coincidence water flow W of water in the cross section of the reservoir channel based on the integration and averaging the results of incremental measurement of numerical values ΔV n, Δβ (n) and dn.
Определение средней скорости V течения воды в поперечном сечении русла водоема производят на усреднения результатов пошаговых измерений численных значений ΔVn, Δβ(n) и dn.In this case, vertical ultrasonic sensing and measuring the thickness of the water is carried out by a block of echo sounders placed along the sides of the vessel moving along the water surface of the reservoir perpendicular to the direction of water flow. The measurement of the Doppler shifts of the reflected pulses caused by the flow of water is based on correlation processing and averaging of the Doppler frequency in the received spectra of ultrasonic signals of separated onboard ultrasonic antennas. The measurement of the current horizontal angle Δβ (n) of the drift of the vessel by the water flow is carried out by measuring the radial velocity of water relative to the hull of the vessel with propeller sensors placed on the outer rods of the vessel. The current radial velocity V n of the water flow is measured based on the registration of the delay time and Doppler frequency shifts of the echo sounder signals from the bottom of the reservoir at receiving ultrasonic antennas spaced along the hull below its waterline. The average velocity V of the water flow in the cross section of the channel is determined by averaging the results of step-by-step measurements of numerical values ΔV n , Δβ (n) and dn.
The water flow rate W in the pond is determined based on step-by-step calculations of the current water flow rate ΔWn = ΔV n ⋅ΔSn (dn) in the channel cross section and integration of the results of step-by-step measurements of the current values of ΔWn and the drift angle Δβ (n) of the vessel.
A disadvantage of the known ultrasonic method / 6 / is the reduced accuracy of measuring the average speed of flowing water in a pond, associated with a reduced resolution of measurements based on an estimate of the Doppler frequency in the received spectrum of the echo sounder signals, with a reduced accuracy of measurements of drift of a vessel based on recording the speed of the surface water flow relative surface of the vessel. Another disadvantage of this method is the impossibility of taking measurements at shallow depths of water bodies due to insufficient resolution of the echo sounder and increased draft of a vessel carrying large-sized measuring equipment.

The numerical values of the thresholds Δdn gr and ΔV n gr in the proposed method are adaptively selected from the conditions of the current depth and flow velocity in the range of values Δdn gr ~ 2-6 m, ΔV n gr ~ 0.5-0.8 m / s. Pulse code modulation of the carrier frequency and / or the initial phase of the probe pulses in mode “A” is performed by Barker codes, M-sequence, Jacobi codes, non-linear or additional sequences.
The introduction of a new sequence of these distinctive operations allows you to bring the resolution of the measurements of the depth of the reservoir to millimeters, in contrast to the resolution (≥5 ... 10 cm) of the prototype / 6 /. Also, from units cm / s the absolute error of the velocity calculation decreases to less than 1 mm / s for small water flow rates due to the exclusion of the influence of standing waves.
In this case, coding of the initial phases of the carrier frequency and / or the initial phases of ultrasonic probe pulses with Barker codes, M-sequence, Jacobi codes, non-linear or additional sequences of modulating pulses allows to eliminate decorrelation of signals, the ambiguity of their reading in range. This, at periods T1 and T2 (more than 20 ms) of the repetition of the probing ultrasonic encoded pulses, additionally provides an extension of the range of application of the claimed measurement method for water flow rates in the water body more than 1 m / s and water body depth more than 15 m.

According to FIG. 1 ultrasonic measurement of flow velocity and water flow in an open
With a reduced current depth of the reservoir (Δdn <Δdn gr ) and / or a small current velocity of the water flow (ΔV n <ΔV n gr ), the “B” measurement mode (Fig. 1) is automatically activated according to condition (7). In mode “B” in
(10).Next, the numerical values of the arguments of the correlation coefficients arg (ρ ΔTi ) are calculated from the data ρ ΔТ1 or ρ ΔТ2 . From the found value of the argument arg (ρ ΔTi ) of the cross-correlation coefficient from expression (8), the current radial velocity ΔV n of the water flow and the current flow rate ΔW of water are determined from expression (10).
Regardless of the OS correlation processing mode used, the measurement of the drift angle Δβ (n) of the
At the next measurement step (n = n + 1, n≤N), the measurement process and storing the current values of the drift angle Δβ (n), the radial velocity ΔV n of the water flow and the flow ΔW of water in the open reservoir is repeated.
Upon arrival of
If it is impossible to approach
The proposed method for measuring the parameters of an open reservoir is implemented in a prototype of an ultrasonic meter for parameters of a reservoir. The method allowed to bring the resolution of the measurements of the depth of the reservoir to several millimeters, in contrast to the resolution (≥5 ... 10 cm) of the prototype / 6 /. Also, the absolute error in calculating the water velocity to 1-2 mm / s for small water flow velocities in the presence of standing waves decreased from units cm / s.
