Abstract
Description
The invention relates to measuring technique and can be used to measure the surface area of a body of complex shape.
A known method of measuring the surface area of bodies of irregular shape, RF patent for the invention No. 643745, IPC G01B 7/32, published 01/25/1979. To determine the surface area by this method, it is necessary to suspend a measured body and a standard with a known surface area on thin suspensions. Next, you need to determine their weight and dip into the wetting composition. After removing the measured body and the standard from the wetting composition, it is necessary to shake off its excess and dry it, and re-determine them. The surface area of the measured body is determined by the ratio of the increment of the weight after coating the wetting composition of the surface of the measured body and the standard according to the formula:
где: S1 и S2 - площади поверхности измеряемого тела и эталона, соответственно; ΔG1 и ΔG2 - приращение весов измеряемого тела и эталона после смачивания.where: S 1 and S 2 - the surface area of the measured body and the standard, respectively; ΔG 1 and ΔG 2 - the increment of the weights of the measured body and the standard after wetting.
Measurement inaccuracy is the main disadvantage of this method and is caused by the fact that if the measured body and the standard will consist of different materials with different adhesive, absorption and other properties, which will provide uneven coating of the wetting composition on their surfaces, the result of measuring the surface area of a body of complex shape will be significantly inaccurate. The disadvantage of this method will be the possible measurement error, the surface area of the body of complex shape, obtained by removing excess wetting composition from the surface of the measured body and the standard, with different intensities or different methods.
Known RF patent for the invention No. 846995, IPC G01B 5/26, published July 15, 1981, based on the above method. This method differs from the previously presented one by the need to pre-fabricate the standard, from the same material as the measured body, with the same surface finish and the closest geometric shape.
A significant drawback of this method is that in some cases it will be technologically or even practically impossible to make a standard from the composite material of the measured body and recreate in it all forms and characteristics close to the measured body
The objective of the invention is to improve the accuracy and simplification of the process of measuring the surface area of a body of complex shape.
The problem is solved in that the measured body and the standard with a known surface area are coated with a wetting composition, dried and weighed, then the measured body and the standard are re-coated with a wetting composition, dried and weighed, and the surface area is judged by the ratio of the increment of body weight and standard between the first and a second application of a wetting composition. As the second wetting layer, it is preferable to use oil paint.
The method is as follows: to measure the surface area of a body of complex shape, a reference is made with a known surface area. The standard can be made of various materials, different shapes and surface areas, based on the required accuracy. After manufacturing on the surface of the standard and the measured body, a first layer of a wetting composition is applied. The wetting composition of the first layer is selected based on the required accuracy and can be represented by various materials, which provide a thin, uniform and tight coating of the surfaces of the standard and the measured body (for example, nitro-paint). After stabilization (drying, if nitro-paint) of the first layer of the wetting composition, the weight of the measured body and the standard with a single-layer coating are determined with the necessary accuracy. Then on the surface of the standard and the measured body with a single layer coating, a second layer of another wetting composition is applied. The wetting composition of the second layer can be characterized by a description of the first layer and should differ from it by properties or composition to exclude negative interaction of the layers (for example, if the first layer is nitro-paint, then the second layer is an oil paint having a different composition and properties, which prevents the layers from mixing). After stabilization (drying, if oil paint) of the second layer of the wetting composition, the weight of the measured body and the standard with a two-layer coating are determined with the necessary accuracy.
Having determined the weight of the measured body and the standard with a single-layer and two-layer coating, calculate the weight of the second layer of the wetting composition. After determining the weight of the second layer of wetting composition on the surfaces of the measured body and the standard with a known surface area, calculate the surface area of the measured body of complex shape according to the following formula:
где: S1 и S2 - площади поверхности измеряемого тела и эталона, соответственно; ΔG1 и ΔG2 - приращение весов измеряемого тела и эталона между первым и вторым нанесением смачивающего состава.where: S 1 and S 2 - the surface area of the measured body and the standard, respectively; ΔG 1 and ΔG 2 - the increment of the weights of the measured body and the standard between the first and second application of the wetting composition.
The described method does not require large financial and physical and other investments, and is also simple to organize and provided with a simple mathematical apparatus, which greatly simplifies and speeds up the process of obtaining data on the surface area of bodies of complex shape. As practice has shown, this method with sufficient accuracy for most purposes and tasks allows you to measure the surface area of bodies not only of complex shape, but also of bodies having a finely porous structure and having absorption properties, such as a sea sponge.
