Abstract
Description
The invention relates to the field of quantum electronics, and more specifically to active laser media, namely, to ensure the generation of laser radiation in media containing metal nanoparticles.
Metal nanoparticles (MNPs) have found application in many areas of modern research and technology: fluorescence spectroscopy, therapy and imaging of tumors, the creation of various types of sensors, low-threshold lasers, high-brightness panels and metamaterials (hyperlenses, invisible coatings). They gained a similar distribution due to a strong and specific interaction with an electromagnetic wave and the presence of surface plasma resonance, a frequency range within which absorption increases significantly due to the coincidence of the incident light frequency with the frequency of natural vibrations of surface plasmons (collective vibrations of conduction electrons in a particle relative to the ion core ) It was established that the addition of metal nanoparticles to the organic dye solution, in the case where the surface plasma resonance frequency coincides with the contour of the luminescence line of the organic dye, leads to an increase in its luminescence intensity, which is caused by the formation of an organic molecule – metal nanoparticle complex in which the radiation lifetime of the excited level is less than a dye molecule without a metal nanoparticle (see [1]). It was shown in [2] that the addition of fractal silver aggregates to the active medium of a cylindrical microcavity of a rhodamine 6G dye laser leads to a decrease in the laser generation threshold for
В работе [1] отмечается, что усиление люминесценции происходит в случае, когда расстояние между молекулой красителя и поверхностью МНЧ превосходит несколько нанометров, в противном случае наблюдается тушение.due to the joint excitation of collective plasma modes of a metal nanostructure and eigenmodes of a microcavity. In [3], the phenomenon of random generation in a suspension consisting of a solution of the organic dye rhodamine 6G and a polydispersed silver powder with an average particle diameter of 55 nm was described. It was noted that in such a system, an increase in intensity, a decrease in the line width, and a decrease in the threshold of laser radiation were observed in comparison with a laser in which silver nanoparticles were replaced by dielectric ones. However, the efficiency of the interaction of MNPs with dye molecules during this use is underestimated due to the effect of quenching of luminescence. In [1], it was noted that luminescence amplification occurs when the distance between the dye molecule and the surface of the MNP exceeds several nanometers; otherwise, quenching is observed.
SPASER (Surface Plasmon Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation). Patent [4] describes a new class of devices - a source of plasma and optical coherent fields called SPASER (Surface Plasmon Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation). SPASER is a nanometer analogue of a laser; a metal nanoparticle acts as a resonator in it. It is known that the quality factor of such nanoresonators is extremely low. In order to overcome the losses in the cavity, MNPs are surrounded by a phosphor, which is, for example, an organic dye molecule. When a phosphor is excited from outside, a resonant energy transfer occurs from the excited level of the organic dye molecule to the surface plasmon, which in turn creates local electromagnetic fields that additionally stimulate the phosphor photoluminescence. Thus, the number of surface plasmons increases in an avalanche like manner and feedback is realized. One way to implement SPASER is to
The MNP is surrounded by a silica shell with an organic dye, the luminescence spectrum of which overlaps with the surface plasma resonance band and the silica layer between them to avoid quenching of the phosphor [5]. The MNP shell containing the phosphor can be made, for example, of polyallylamine hydrochloride (RAS) or polystyrene sulfate (PSS) [6], or polyaniline (PANI), which has electrical conductivity [7], or polyisopropyl acrylamide (PNIPA), which is thermally sensitive [ 8]. However, there is no evidence of attempts to use a medium consisting of an MNP in a silica shell with a dye as an active laser medium.
The problem to which the invention is directed, is to develop such an active laser medium that would include MNP, but would provide a lower threshold for the generation of laser radiation than known analogues.
The technical result is achieved through the use of an active laser medium including metal nanoparticles and a phosphor, and the main distinguishing feature of such a medium is that metal nanoparticles surrounded by a shell representing silica containing a phosphor, the luminescence spectrum of which overlaps with the peak surface plasma resonance of the MNP. The silica shell does not disturb the basic optical properties of metal nanoparticles, increases their stability and prevents their coagulation. In addition, phosphors in a silica shell exhibit enhanced photostability, and the selected shell thickness ensures optimal interaction of the phosphor with MNP.

[9].In the present invention, the dye fluorescein was used as an organic phosphor. From the extinction spectra of gold nanoparticles (curve 1), luminescence of a phosphor (curve 2), stimulated emission (curve 3) shown in Fig. 1, it can be seen that the extinction spectrum of gold nanoparticles overlaps with the luminescence spectrum of fluorescein, and the stimulated emission is located between them. which is consistent with theoretical concepts [9].
Comparative experiments were carried out to understand what are the advantages of a laser medium consisting of gold nanoparticles in shells of silica with a phosphor.

As a result of the study, it was found that the threshold for generating laser radiation in a medium consisting of nanoparticles in a silica shell with a dye is more than 15 times lower than for a dye medium with nanoparticles without a shell (the threshold for generating laser radiation in a solution of nanoparticles in a shell with dye was achieved at a pump power density of 15 MW / cm 2 , and for the solution

Thus, it was shown that a laser medium consisting of gold nanoparticles in a shell with a phosphor is more efficient than a medium consisting of a phosphor with gold nanoparticles.
