Abstract
Description
The invention relates to instrumentation, in particular to electromagnetic flowmeters designed to measure the flow of liquid metals.
Known electromagnetic flowmeters of liquid metals, the principle of which is based on the law of electromagnetic induction [1]. The electromagnetic flowmeter has a stainless steel pipe without an insulating coating on the inner surface, two electrodes welded to the outer surface of the pipe wall and an inductor that creates a magnetic field in the working area of the pipe channel. When a liquid metal moves along a channel in a liquid metal crossing a magnetic field, an electric field is excited, which creates a potential difference between the electrodes, which serves as a measure of the volumetric flow rate of the measured medium.
The work [1] describes electromagnetic flowmeters of liquid metals, the inductors of which contain permanent magnets. The disadvantage of these flow meters during their long-term operation is the low stability of the magnetic field, which reduces the metrological characteristics of the device.
Known electromagnetic liquid metal flow meter, which ensures the stability of the magnetic field in the pipe channel [2]. This flowmeter has an inductor in the form of a low frequency alternating current electromagnet. The specified flowmeter [2] the magnetic circuit has a C-shape with pole pieces made in the form of plates located on both sides of the pipe in parallel planes. On the middle part of the magnetic circuit there is an induction magnetic field excitation coil wound with a wire with heat-resistant insulation.
A disadvantage of the known design of an electromagnetic flowmeter described in [2] is that, with alternating magnetic field excitation current, Foucault currents occur in the plates of the pole pieces, weakening the magnetic field in the flowmeter channel, and therefore the sensitivity of the flowmeter to the volumetric flow rate of liquid metal . The plane of the pole tip is perpendicular to the direction of the magnetic flux supplied by the magnetic circuit, as a result of which the magnitude of the Foucault currents is significant. The contours of the Foucault currents in the pole tip are formed in concentric circles, the center of which is located at the intersection of the plane of the pole tip with the axis of the magnetic circuit, coinciding with the transverse axis of the pole tip. The aim of the invention is the creation of an electromagnetic liquid metal flow meter with improved metrological characteristics.
To achieve this goal, each pole tip has a through transverse slot running from the edge of the pole tip to the point of its connection with the magnetic circuit. The transverse slot in the pole tip breaks the contours of the Foucault currents, so that there are no Foucault currents in the pole tip.
Figure 1 shows the design diagram of an electromagnetic liquid metal flow meter, made by the proposed solution.
6.The electromagnetic liquid metal flow meter consists of a pipe 1 made of stainless steel without an electrical insulation coating, and an inductor, which is an electromagnet consisting of a C-shaped magnetic circuit 2 with pole pieces 3 and an induction coil 4. There is a through transverse slot 5 wide in the pole piece not less than 1 mm running from the edge of the pole piece to the point of its connection with the magnetic circuit. Electrodes 6 are welded to the pipe.
When the inductor coil is supplied with alternating current and there is no through slot 5 (shown by a dotted line) in the pole tip, Foucault currents arise, the contours of which 7 represent concentric circles, the common center of which is the center of the junction of the pole tip with the magnetic circuit. If there is no slot, then Foucault currents create a counter magnetic field, weakening the magnetic field in the pipe channel, and thereby reduce the sensitivity of the flow meter to the volumetric flow rate of liquid metal. If a slot exists, then Foucault currents are absent and the magnetic field in the channel is not attenuated.
An electromagnetic liquid metal flow meter operates as follows. An electric current of low frequency is supplied to the induction coil, as a result of which a magnetic field is created in the pipe channel, directed perpendicular to the plane passing through the line connecting the electrodes and the pipe axis.
When a liquid metal moves along a channel in a liquid metal crossing a magnetic field, an electric field is excited, which serves as a measure of the volumetric flow rate of the liquid metal. The induced electric field is measured using two electrodes welded to the outer wall of the pipe.
The technical result that can be obtained by carrying out the invention is to increase the sensitivity and accuracy of measuring the flow rate of liquid metal.
