The invention relates to computer networks, in particular the Internet, and is intended for use in bookmarking web services that enable users to store bookmarks not on hard disks in computers, but on servers on the Internet or intranet, while users can access bookmarks from any computers connected to the network.

A bookmark is a link to a favorite, favorite network resource that the user will access in the future.

There is a method of creating a bookmark catalog on a server (Yandex. Bookmarks service, http://zakladki.yandex.ru), according to which, after registering a user on a server, they connect it to a personal account. After that, the user has the opportunity to create his own personal bookmark catalog, for which he creates personal categories (folders) and places personal bookmarks in them.

In the described solution, for each user on the server they create their own personal bookmark catalog, which is unique. To speed up the process of creating a directory, the user often places personal bookmarks in two or three categories, which is why the elements of the user's directory are not structured, which complicates the search for bookmarks and thereby reduces the efficiency of working with the directory.

There is a method of creating a bookmark catalog on a server (Internet bookmarking service "MyMesto", http://moemesto.ru), the closest analogue of the invention, according to which a pre-formed hierarchical multi-level catalog is placed on the server. The catalog includes categories (groups) proposed to the user and the bookmarks proposed to the user contained therein. The user is granted access to said directory, which is carried out from a computer of a user having access to the Internet and a web browser. The user performs work with the catalog through the user interface. After the user is registered on the server, they are connected to his personal account. After that, the user has the opportunity to create his own personal bookmark catalog, for which he creates personal categories and places personal bookmarks in them, while data on personal categories and personal bookmarks are entered into the user's personal account.

In the described solution for each user create their own personal bookmark catalog, formed from the root level. In this case, if the user is satisfied with the structure of the proposed categories or some part of it, he has to duplicate this category structure in his bookmark catalog, and then, if desired, supplement it with personal categories and personal bookmarks. The basis of the invention is the task: to speed up the process of creating a bookmark catalog on the server by providing the proposed directory structure with the possibility of supplementing it with personal categories and personal bookmarks.

The method of creating a bookmark catalog on the server in accordance with the presented flowchart and the described capabilities can be implemented in any programming language, in particular, in the described examples it is implemented in the PHP programming language.
