Abstract
Description
The invention relates to the field of electrochemistry, in particular, the technology for the manufacture of electrodes for chlorine and chlorate electrolysis, electro-membrane processes: electrosynthesis, electrodialysis, electroosmosis, electrophoresis.
A known method of preparing the surface of the base of valve metal [US Pat. RU №2241787 С25В 11/10. A method of manufacturing an electrode for electrochemical processes. 2004. Pilat BV, Pilat KB], in which the passivating oxide film on the surface of the valve metal, before forming a layer of conductive oxide, was destroyed by spark erosion in an environment that excluded the access of atmospheric air.
The disadvantage of this method is the complexity and energy intensity of the process, since spark erosion requires high voltages of 300-400 V and current densities of 10-15 A / dm 2 . In addition, such surface preparation does not ensure the stability of the oxide coating of the electrodes during a long operation process, which is due to the low adhesion of the coating material to the base due to the presence of surface defects.
The closest in technical essence and the achieved result to the proposed method is a method of manufacturing an electrode for electrochemical processes [US Pat. RU No. 2241785, С25В 11/10. A method of manufacturing an electrode for electrochemical processes. 2004. Pilat BV, Pilat KB], in which, to reduce the transient electrical resistance of titanium, an intermediate sublayer of the intermetallic compound is additionally formed by the method of spark alloying.
The disadvantages of this method is that when preparing the surface of titanium, an insufficiently fine structure of the surface roughness is formed and, therefore, its low adhesive ability, high energy consumption, since electrospark alloying of intermetallic compounds occurs only at high capacities and is difficult to design, time-consuming process. It is almost impossible to adapt to production conditions that require the manufacture of anodes of various sizes.
The objective of the invention is to develop a method of manufacturing an electrode for electrochemical processes in order to reduce energy intensity and simplify the process of preparing the surface of titanium, providing high adhesive ability of the electrocatalytic oxide coating with the base material to achieve the required resource of the electrode.
The objective is achieved in that the method of manufacturing an electrode for electrochemical processes involves the formation of an intermediate sublayer before applying the electrocatalytic coating by cathodic degreasing at a current density of 0.1 A / cm 2 and a temperature of 40 ° C for 40 min in a solution containing, g / l: 25.0-30 trisodium phosphate (Na 3 PO 4 ), 25.0-30.0 sodium carbonate (Na 2 CO 3 ), 10.0-40.0 sodium vanadate (NaVO 3 ), 5.0-10.0 sodium hydroxide (NaOH) followed by electrocatalytic coating at a ratio of the average anodic and cathodic components Current 2: 1, a temperature of 40-45 ° C, from the electrolyte composition, g / l: 80,0-90,0 cobalt sulfate (CoSO 4 · 7H 2 O), 10,0-15,0 manganese sulfate (MnSO 4 · 5H 2 O), 5.0-10.0 nickel sulfate (NiSO 4 · 7H 2 O), 15.0-20.0 boric acid (H 3 BO 3 ), followed by heat treatment in an atmosphere of air at 350-380 ° C for 30 minutes
The introduction of sodium vanadate (NaVO 3 ) in a solution for the cathodic degreasing of titanium containing sodium hydroxide (NaOH), trisodium phosphate (Na 3 PO 4 ) and sodium carbonate (Na 2 CO 3 ) reduces the transition resistance of the titanium base due to the modification of its structural parameters as a result formation of vanadium oxides on the titanium surface. Moreover, the modification affects a very thin, almost monomolecular layer of the base and provides strong adhesion of the electrocatalytic coating to the base.
The proposed method of manufacturing an electrode for electrochemical processes allowed:
- значительно упростить процесс подготовки титановой основы, исключив из него стадии травления и активации;- significantly simplify the process of preparing the titanium base, eliminating the etching and activation stages from it;
- снизить в десятки раз плотность тока и напряжения при формировании промежуточного подслоя перед нанесением электрокаталитического покрытия;- reduce tens of times the current density and voltage during the formation of the intermediate sublayer before applying the electrocatalytic coating;
- увеличить прочность сцепления электрокаталитического покрытия с основой за счет наличия промежуточного подслоя из оксидов ванадия;- increase the adhesion strength of the electrocatalytic coating to the base due to the presence of an intermediate sublayer of vanadium oxides;
- получить низкий и стабильный потенциал электрода;- get a low and stable electrode potential;
- повысить стойкость покрытия;- increase the resistance of the coating;
- обеспечить высокие электрокаталитические характеристики электрода за счет развитой системы межфазных границ в многокомпонентной системе;- to provide high electrocatalytic characteristics of the electrode due to the developed system of interphase boundaries in a multicomponent system;
- упростить аппаратурное оформление процесса подготовки поверхности и приспособить его к производственным условиям.- to simplify the hardware design of the surface preparation process and adapt it to production conditions.
The novelty in the present invention is the backlog of electrolyte to obtain an electrocatalytic coating based on mixed oxides of base metals and the simplification of the preparation of the titanium surface, eliminating high voltage and current density. None of the electrolytes used to degrease the surface of titanium contains sodium vanadate. Sodium vanadate (NaVO 3 ) is introduced into the degreasing solution in an amount of 10.0-40.0 g / l.
1:2.It should be noted that after cathodic degreasing, washing and drying on the titanium surface using electron microscopy (QUANTA 200), up to 4.0 wt.% And 1.7 at.% Vanadium were detected, and oxides V (IV) and V were detected by chronovoltotentiometry (III) in a ratio of 1: 2.
The use of a concentration of sodium vanadate in a degreasing solution below the specified limit does not allow surface modification. An increase in the concentration above the specified upper limit does not lead to a significant increase in vanadium oxides in the surface layer, but increases the consumption of sodium vanadate.
For experimental verification of the proposed method, electrocatalytic coatings based on base metal oxides were formed on the VT-1-0 titanium surface by electrodeposition from aqueous solutions of their salts during polarization by an alternating asymmetric current.
Example. VT-1-0 flat titanium plates of size 10 × 50 × 1 mm were cathodically degreased at a current density of 0.1 A / cm 2 and a temperature of 40 ° C in a solution containing, g / l: 5.0 sodium hydroxide (NaOH ), 25.0 trisodium phosphate (Na 3 PO 4 ), 25.0 sodium carbonate (Na 2 CO 3 ) and 20.0 sodium vanadate (NaVO 3 ) for 40 minutes, after which they were washed successively with running and distilled water. Then, an electrocatalytic coating of electrolyte composition was applied to the base, g / l:
(CoSO4·7H2O) - 80,0Cobalt sulfate (CoSO 4 · 7H 2 O) - 80.0
(MnSO4·5H2O) - 15,0Manganese Sulfate (MnSO 4 · 5H 2 O) - 15.0
(NiSO4·7H2O) - 5,0Nickel Sulfate (NiSO 4 · 7H 2 O) - 5.0
при соотношении среднего анодного и катодного составляющих токов 2:1, температуре 40-45°С, с последующей термообработкой в атмосфере воздуха при 350-380°С в течение 30 мин.when the ratio of the average anode and cathode component currents is 2: 1, a temperature of 40-45 ° C, followed by heat treatment in an atmosphere of air at 350-380 ° C for 30 minutes
The electrode was tested in flow-through non-diaphragm units for the electrolysis of low-saline (tap) water. The current density is 10.0-15.0 mA / cm 2 , the water flow is 50.0 cm 2 / A · s. The electrode stood for over 2000 hours. The latter confirms the high electrocatalytic characteristics of electrodes based on mixed oxides of base metals, electrodeposited from aqueous solutions of their salts during polarization by an alternating asymmetric current.
Comparative measurements of the transition resistance of the boundary between titanium and the oxide coating of the electrodes manufactured by the proposed method and the prototype method showed that the specific resistance of the transition layer of the electrode manufactured by the prototype method was 2.0 · 10 -1 Ohm · cm, and according to the proposed the method of 4.0-6.0 · 10 -3 Ohms, i.e. two orders of magnitude less. Coating adhesion - 1 point.
Thus, the application of the invention allows to simplify the process of preparing the surface of titanium, eliminating the stage of activation and etching in a solution containing HF 10 g / l and HNO 3 50 g / l, or concentrated hydrochloric acid 90 ° C; reduce energy consumption; to obtain a corrosion-resistant coating based on mixed oxides of base metals on the surface of titanium with high electrocatalytic properties.
