Abstract
Description
The invention relates to the production of nanoscale fillers of composite materials, as well as composites based on them, and can be used to create materials with specified functional characteristics used, in particular, in mechanical engineering.
One of the most promising directions in the development of modern chemical technology is the production and use of materials containing nanoparticles - nanocomposites based on an organic polymer, in particular polyolefin, and an inorganic nanofiller - layered silicate. As the particle size of a substance decreases to the nanometer range, its properties change, which is explained by the high specific surface of the nanoparticles. However, the high surface energy of the particles, which allows, in principle, to obtain unique materials, is an obstacle to their uniform distribution in the polymer matrix. Therefore, the most important task in obtaining polymer nanocomposites, formed due to the expansion of silicate plates as a result of intercalation of polymer chains into interlayer spaces, is the creation of organophilic layers on the clay surface.
Clay surface modification allows:
во-первых, разрушить иерархию, образованную в результате слипания отдельных кристаллитов слоевого силиката;firstly, to destroy the hierarchy formed as a result of adhesion of individual crystallites of layer silicate;
во-вторых, обеспечить проникновение макромолекул в пространство между силикатными пластинами;secondly, to ensure the penetration of macromolecules into the space between the silicate plates;
в-третьих, достичь такого уровня взаимодействия полимера с поверхностью наполнителя, который требуется для создания высоких физико-механических свойств материала.thirdly, to achieve the level of interaction of the polymer with the surface of the filler, which is required to create high physical and mechanical properties of the material.
Modified nanofillers of polymers, unlike macrofillers, are effective even with small degrees of filling. In this case, the shape of the nanoparticles is of particular importance: for example, the dimensions of the inorganic layers of natural silicate are about 200 nm in length and 1 nm in thickness. As studies have shown, nanoparticles with a large difference in linear dimensions when formed into a film, for example, are extruded by orienting themselves in the bulk of the polymer, acting as a reinforcing filler. In this regard, in order to maximize the use of the properties of nanofillers, the processes of their modification should be carried out with minimal destruction of the nanoparticles.
Известен способ получения модифицированного наполнителя для нанокомпозитов на основе полиолефинов, заключающийся в том, что исходное сырье природного слоистого минерала подвергают измельчению в устройстве ударного действия с последующей термообработкой термическим ударом с градиентом температур 800-1000°С в течение 1-30 мин (патент RU №2269554).A known method of producing a modified filler for nanocomposites based on polyolefins, which consists in the fact that the feedstock of a natural layered mineral is subjected to grinding in a percussion device, followed by heat treatment by heat stroke with a temperature gradient of 800-1000 ° C for 1-30 min (RU patent No. 2269554).
As indicated by the authors of the patent, a feature of the modifiers obtained by the known method is their high activity, due to the presence of uncompensated charges, because the process of temperature destruction occurs according to structural defects. According to the authors, this provides, along with structural defects in nanoscale degradation fragments, a special state of nanoparticles, similar to electret. The electret state of the nanomodifier and the presence of an uncompensated charge leads to the formation of an ordered layer of particles in the polymer periphery.
However, this treatment of the layered filler violates its natural structure, leading to the destruction of individual filler plates (layers), the main feature of which, which largely determines the hardening of the polymer nanocomposite, is its small thickness compared to their other linear dimensions.
Известен также способ получения модифицированных неорганических частиц со слоистой структурой, заключающийся в том, что в смесительном реакторе суспензии из неорганических частиц со слоистой структурой и воды или смесей из 5-99 вес.% воды и 95-1 мас.% C1-C8-спиртов с содержанием плотного вещества от 2 до 35 мас.% при температуре от 20 до 100°С в течение 10-180 мин превращают в однородную массу с растворами или суспензиями многофункциональных С1-С30-аминосоединений типа меламина и его производных, мочевины и ее производных, гуанидина и его производных, цианамида, дициандиамида, сульфамида и/или анилина, а также их солей в воде или смесями из 5-99 вес.% воды и 95-1 мас.% C1-C8-спиртов с содержанием плотного вещества от 5 до 90 мас.%, причем доля многофункциональных C1-С30-аминосоединений, содержащих от 1 до 30 атомов углерода, - в пересчете на одну безводную неорганическую частицу - составляет от 20 до 5000 мас.%, после чего к дисперсии неорганических частиц, при необходимости после частичного отделения жидкой фазы, добавляют при температуре 20-90°С преполимеры аминопласта типа меламиноформальдегидных, мочевиноальдегидных, цианамидных, дициандиамидных, сульфамидных, гуанаминных и/или анилинформальдегидных смол со средней молярной массой от 150 до 1000 в виде раствора в воде и/или в органических растворителях или смесях растворителей с содержанием смолы от 30 до 98 мас.%, а также при необходимости - в пересчете на преполимеры аминопласта - от 0,1 до 2,0 мас.% кислых катализаторов и ведут реакцию обмена, причем содержание аминопластов в дисперсии - в пересчете на одну безводную неорганическую частицу - составляет 0,1-20 мас.%, содержание плотного вещества в дисперсии неорганических частиц составляет от 0,5 до 35 мас.%, а время составляет от 10 до 45 мин, после чего модифицированные неорганические частицы при отделении жидкой фазы высушивают при температуре от 20 до 180°С в течение 0,1-8 ч (опубликованная заявка RU №2003117463).There is also a method of producing modified inorganic particles with a layered structure, which consists in the fact that in a mixing reactor, suspensions of inorganic particles with a layered structure and water or mixtures of 5-99 wt.% Water and 95-1 wt.% C 1 -C 8 -alcohols with a dense substance content of 2 to 35 wt.% at a temperature of 20 to 100 ° C for 10-180 minutes turn into a homogeneous mass with solutions or suspensions of multifunctional C 1 -C 30 amino compounds such as melamine and its derivatives, urea and its derivatives, guanidine and its derivatives , cyanamide, dicyandiamide, sulfamide and / or aniline, as well as their salts in water or mixtures of 5-99 wt.% water and 95-1 wt.% C 1 -C 8 alcohols with a dense substance of 5 to 90 wt. %, and the proportion of multifunctional C 1 -C 30 amino compounds containing from 1 to 30 carbon atoms, in terms of one anhydrous inorganic particle, is from 20 to 5000 wt.%, after which to the dispersion of inorganic particles, if necessary after partial separation of the liquid phase, aminoplast prepolymers of the type melamine-formaldehyde are added at a temperature of 20-90 ° С euinoaldehyde, cyanamide, dicyandiamide, sulfamide, guanamine and / or aniline formaldehyde resins with an average molar mass of from 150 to 1000 in the form of a solution in water and / or in organic solvents or solvent mixtures with a resin content of from 30 to 98 wt.%, as well as the need - in terms of aminoplast prepolymers - from 0.1 to 2.0 wt.% acid catalysts and carry out an exchange reaction, and the content of aminos in the dispersion, in terms of one anhydrous inorganic particle, is 0.1-20 wt.%, solid content the dispersion of inorganic particles is from 0.5 to 35 wt.%, and the time is from 10 to 45 minutes, after which the modified inorganic particles are dried at a temperature of from 20 to 180 ° C for 0.1-8 hours when separating the liquid phase published application RU No. 2003117463).
This method allows to improve the compatibility of the base polymer with a modified filler, but is technologically complex and expensive, involves the use of prepolymers. In addition, it is not applicable for the production of nanocomposites based on polyolefins.
Closest to the proposed invention is
способ получения модифицированного наполнителя для нанокомпозитов на основе полиолефинов путем обработки природного слоистого силиката модифицирующими добавками, представляющими собой, в частности, производные аминов, который заключается в том, что осуществляют: приготовление сухого порошкообразного слоистого природного материала (компонент а); приготовление по меньшей мере одной добавки (компонент b) для модификации компонента а), интенсивное смешение компонентов а) и b) в одном смесительном устройстве при условиях сильного сдвига, причем вода или растворитель не применяются для введения компонента b);a method for producing a modified filler for nanocomposites based on polyolefins by treating a natural layered silicate with modifying additives, which are, in particular, amine derivatives, which consists in: preparing a dry powdery layered natural material (component a); preparing at least one additive (component b) to modify component a), intensively mixing components a) and b) in one mixing device under strong shear conditions, with water or solvent not being used to introduce component b);
модифицированный наполнитель для нанокомпозитов на основе полиолефинов, полученный этим способом, иmodified filler for nanocomposites based on polyolefins obtained by this method, and
нанокомпозит на основе полиолефинов, включающий полиолефин и указанный модифицированный наполнитель (опубликованная заявка RU №2005121138).a polyolefin-based nanocomposite comprising a polyolefin and said modified filler (published application RU No. 2005121138).
As mentioned above, the treatment of a layered filler under shear deformation violates its natural structure, leading to the destruction of individual filler plates, which does not allow the additional effect of hardening of the nanocomposite due to the introduction of particles with a large difference in linear sizes into the polymer matrix. In addition, the known method involves the use of such mixing devices that are able to provide a strong shear, which complicates the process technology of the modification of the filler.
The technical result of the present invention is the creation of a modification process that is simpler in technological design, the final product of which is a modified filler, which, when introduced into a polyolefin in small quantities, can significantly increase the strength of the obtained composite material - nanocomposite, including by preserving the linear dimensions of the original natural layered material.
The specified technical result is achieved by the fact that in the method for producing a modified filler for nanocomposites based on polyolefins by treating the natural layered silicate with modifying additives, which are derivatives of amines, the processing process is carried out by introducing the first modifying additive, which is cetyltrimethylammonium bromide, into the aqueous suspension, the amount corresponding to 25-50% of the cation exchange capacity of the natural layered silicate ki of the resulting suspension, introducing into the resulting suspension a second modifying additive, which is dioctadecyldimethylammonium bromide, in an amount corresponding to 25-75% of the cation exchange capacity of the natural layered silicate, and soaking the resulting final suspension, followed by separation, washing with water and drying the obtained modified filler, when this modifying additives are introduced in the form of a pre-prepared aqueous solution with a concentration of 0.005-0.010 mol / l, having a temperature of 60-80 ° C.
The specified technical result is also achieved by the fact that a modified filler for nanocomposites based on polyolefins, which is a product of processing natural layered silicate with modifying additives based on amine derivatives, was obtained by the above method.
The specified technical result is also achieved by the fact that the nanocomposite based on polyolefins, including a polyolefin and a filler, which is a product of processing natural layered silicate with modifying additives based on amine derivatives, as a modified filler includes the above modified filler in an amount of 1-20 wt.% 100 wt.% Nanocomposite.
You can use any natural layered silicates, such as montmorillonite, hectorite, vermiculite, kaolin, saponite, etc.
As the polymer base, any polyolefins can be used. Concentrations of an aqueous suspension of silicate and an aqueous solution of a modifying additive are selected based on technological capabilities, the concentration of an aqueous solution of modifying additives, which should be in the range of 0.005-0.010 mol / L, is significant. Also important is the ratio of the amount of layered silicate and each of the modifying additives. We have found that the introduction of cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) and dioctadecyldimethylammonium bromide (DODAB) in the indicated sequence and in an amount less than ECO allows for significant expansion of the silicate plates. Moreover, as determined by X-ray diffraction analysis, not only the silicate layers are “moved apart”, but there is a sufficient amount of “voids” between them for the subsequent intercalation of the polyolefin, which ensures a strong bond of the polymer matrix with the filler.
Example.
A sample of clay (montmorillonite with EKO = 95 mg eq / 100 g clay) weighing 1.0 g was dispersed in distilled water. The calculated amount of the CTAB modifier is dissolved in hot water with constant stirring. The concentration of the solution is 0.007 mol / l (a change in concentration within the stated range does not affect the achievement of the technical result).
Then the hot solution of the modifier is added in small portions with stirring to an aqueous suspension of clay, then the resulting suspension is kept at room temperature without stirring.
To the resulting suspension in small portions add the calculated amount of DODAB dissolved in hot water with constant stirring (the concentration of the solution is not more than 8.5 × 10 -3 mol / L, changing the concentration within the stated range does not affect the achievement of the technical result).
Next, the suspension of modified clay is kept without stirring at room temperature, filtered through a paper filter on a Buchner funnel, the filtrate is washed with 500 ml of distilled water and dried by freeze-drying.
Результаты испытаний показывают, что при перемешивании в расплаве полимера происходит дополнительное раздвижение силикатных пластин вследствие проникновения между ними полимера вплоть до нарушения порядка взаимного расположения силикатных пластин в кристаллите модифицированного наполнителя (эксфолиирования).The obtained modified filler is introduced in an amount of 5 wt.% (Tests showed that the technical result is achieved if the filler is introduced in an amount of 1-20 wt.%) Into the melt of the polyolefin (low pressure polyethylene) with stirring. The test results show that when mixing in the polymer melt, an additional expansion of the silicate plates occurs due to the penetration of the polymer between them up to a violation of the order of the relative position of the silicate plates in the crystallite of the modified filler (exfoliation).
The specific process conditions for obtaining the modified filler and the properties of the nanocomposite are given in the table.
