Abstract

FIELD: metallurgy.

The billet is cooled slowly in the mould to a temperature, at which the carbon-containing layer welded with the core reaches a yield required for further machining. The process can be made completely automated. The dimensions and weight of products manufactured using this method can vary significantly.

То есть известен сложный процесс на грани интуиции (см. «Оружие из Дамасска и Булата». В.Хорев. Способ изготовления стальных изделий, обладающих булатными свойствами, заключается в использовании заготовки - сердцевины из мягкой или упругой стали, на которую наносится смесь порошка, состоящего из флюса, стали и углерода (могут быть добавлены легирующие элементы). Смесь с сердцевиной можно предварительно механически обработать. Полученную заготовку помещают в огнеупорную форму, желательно герметичную, в которой разогревают до температуры, при которой она сваривается с сердцевиной.
