SUBSTANCE: tooth root canal filling composition effective in cases of periodontitis and parodontosis contains zinc oxide, resorcinol, formalin, and additionally thymol, all taken is specified proportions. Composition allows treatment of periodontitis and parodontosis with elevated tooth mobility and without change in solid dental tissue color.
EFFECT: increased treatment efficiency and simultaneously antiseptic and bactericidal properties.

Description

The invention relates to medicine, namely to dentistry, and can be used for filling the root canals of teeth in diseases such as periodontitis and periodontal disease with tooth mobility II-III degree.
Various materials are used for root canal filling: phosphate cement, eugenol, resorcinol-formalin paste and others.
Known means for filling the root canals of the teeth - phosphate cement, however, it is inconvenient in operation, as it quickly hardens and as a result of filling the canal in the periodontium, destruction of bone tissue is noted (“Dentistry”, 1977, No. 4, p.31-37 )
A known means for filling the root canals of the teeth is zinc-eugenol paste (Medicines. Dentistry. Roshchina P.I., Maksimovskaya L.N. M., 1989, S. 60-61), but the paste with its high ductility and the ability to well obstruct the root canals at the time of filling almost does not have anti-inflammatory activity and the ability to stimulate bone repair. With periodontitis and periodontal disease, these pastes do not eliminate tooth mobility.
There is also known a means for filling the root canals of the teeth - resorcinol-formalin paste, selected as a prototype (Medicines. Dentistry. Roshchina PI, Maksimovskaya LN - M., 1989, p. 62-63), including zinc oxide, resorcinol and formalin.
Resorcinol-formalin paste, having a mummifying and anti-inflammatory effect, does not stimulate bone tissue repair, has insufficient antiseptic and bactericidal properties, causes a change in the color of hard tissues of the tooth, further resorption of the tooth root and bone wall of the alveoli, and with periodontitis and periodontal disease, it also does not eliminates tooth mobility.
The objective of the invention is to provide a composition for filling the root canals of the teeth with enhanced antiseptic and bactericidal properties, not causing discoloration of the hard tissues of the tooth and providing treatment for periodontitis and periodontal disease with tooth mobility II-III degree.
The problem is solved in that the composition for root canal filling, containing zinc oxide, resorcinol, formalin, according to the invention additionally contains thymol in the following ratio of ingredients, wt.%:
Resorcinol 9-15
Formalin 40-50
Thymol 15-23
Zinc oxide - the rest
Thymol is a well-known bactericidal substance, has increased antiseptic properties, has a pronounced antibacterial activity.
The introduction of thymol in the known composition for filling the root canals of the teeth provides the material with antiseptic and bactericidal properties, promotes the formation of a more plastic mass, which is well consolidated with the bone tissue of the alveoli, expands the possibilities of conservative treatment for periodontitis and periodontal disease, eliminates tooth mobility II-III degree. In addition, the use of thymol in the composition for filling does not cause a change in the hard tissues of the tooth due to the formation of a copolymer of resorcinol and thymol.
The invention does not explicitly follow from the prior art, and also from the prior art no technical solutions of the same purpose have been identified whose set of features is identical to the essential features of the claims of the claimed invention.
The composition is prepared as follows: resorcinol is placed on a dry glass plate, thymol is added, mixed thoroughly, 40% formalin is added, after which the mixture is stirred until homogeneous and then zinc oxide is added (depending on the desired paste consistency), mixed thoroughly and injected into the root canal.
Example. A 47-year-old patient was undergoing treatment for periodontal disease. On examination, mobility of bridges, hyperemia of the mucosa, and bleeding of the gums were noted. After removal of the bridges, amputation and extirpation of the pulp from the root canals were performed. Then the channels are treated with medication and filled with the proposed composition for filling with the help of a root plug screw. After the treatment, the patient's tooth mobility was eliminated, and he was prosthetized with bridge-like splinting cermet prostheses.
Thus, the proposed composition for filling the root canals of the teeth has increased antiseptic and bactericidal properties, eliminates tooth mobility II-III degree with periodontitis and periodontal disease, does not cause discoloration of the hard tissues of the tooth.

  1. The composition for filling the root canals of the teeth, including zinc oxide, resorcinol and formalin, characterized in that it additionally contains thymol in the following ratio of ingredients, wt.%:
    Resorcinol 9.0-15.0
    Formalin 40.0-50.0
    Thymol 15.0-23.0
    Zinc oxide rest
