Abstract
Description
The claimed invention relates to the field of animal husbandry, in particular, caring for horses, namely forging horses while strengthening their hooves.
The mechanical properties of the horse’s hoof, allowing to weaken the tremors and concussion of the horse’s body, are due to the presence of an elastic finger crumb, which acts as a spring device. With alternating expansion and contraction of the hoof, a natural massage of the tissues enclosed in the horn capsule occurs, which creates favorable conditions for proper nutrition and growth of the hoof horn. Rational horse forging methods are an important link in the chain of preventive measures carried out to prevent diseases and increase the horse's performance. Based on this, it is important when caring for a horse’s hooves to choose the right design and fit the horseshoe (with a snug fit) when forging the horse.
Until recently, the adjustment of the horseshoes was carried out by two methods: “hot” and “cold” fitting of the horseshoe. The advantage of a "hot" fitting is. that it provides a tighter fit of the horseshoe to the hoof. The horseshoe is heated and applied to the prepared hoof for a couple of seconds. The imprint left by the hot metal shows the blacksmith what places still need to be filed. After fitting, the horseshoe is cooled in cold water and then nailed. The disadvantage of this method is the high complexity and injury associated with the use of special heating equipment and the possibility of burns with a hammer or a horse.

Known technical solution according to US patent No. 6497292, A 01 L 005/00, publ. 12.24.02 (analogue) and the solution of a similar problem according to US patent No. 6505686, publ. 01/14/03 (prototype). These inventions include the installation of a horseshoe with a tight fit to the horse’s hoof and provide for the cleaning of the corresponding section of the horse’s hoof from wear products, applying a blank corresponding to its configuration on the horseshoe. The prototype, in addition to the above, provides for the application of a hoof-strengthening agent to the hoof area.
The disadvantages of these inventions are the high complexity, low strength and durability of the horseshoe, the absence of a hoof-reinforcing effect, as well as high material costs when implementing the described methods.
The technical effect of using the proposed solution can be expressed in ensuring an even distribution of the horse’s body weight over the hoof, increasing the strength of the hoof and reducing the costs of ensuring the forging process.
The specified technical effect is achieved as follows.
The installation method of the horseshoe includes trimming the hoof, fitting the horseshoe to the shape of the hoof, applying hoof-reinforcing means, attaching the horseshoe to the hoof. At the same time, a reinforcing hoof with coloring filler is applied to the inner surface of the metal horseshoe, a horseshoe is placed on the hoof, pressure is applied to the branches of the horseshoe and the horseshoe is moved back and forth along the sole of the hoof with a shift of 1-2 mm. Then remove the horseshoe, clean the areas painted on the hoof. The process of painting and stripping is repeated until a uniformly painted surface is obtained, after which the horseshoe is nailed. Antimonium crudum based on birch tar is mainly used as a hoof strengthening substance, and soot is used as a coloring filler.
Thanks to the claimed combination of features, namely that:
на внутреннюю поверхность металлической подковы наносят укрепляющее копыто средство с красящим наполнителем, в состав которого входит Antimonium crudum на основе березового дегтя, а в качестве красящего наполнителя сажу;on the inner surface of the metal horseshoe, a hoof-reinforcing agent with a coloring filler is applied, which includes Antimonium crudum based on birch tar, and soot as a coloring filler;
- накладывают подкову на копыто;- impose a horseshoe on a hoof;
- надавливают с небольшим усилием на ветви подковы и двигают подкову по подошве копыта вперед-назад со сдвигом на 1-2 мм;- press with a little effort on the branches of the horseshoe and move the horseshoe along the sole of the hoof back and forth with a shift of 1-2 mm;
- снимают подкову, зачищают окрашенные на копыте участки;- remove the horseshoe, clean the areas painted on the hoof;
- повторяют процесс окраски и зачистки до получения равномерно окрашенной поверхности;- repeat the process of painting and stripping until a uniformly painted surface is obtained;
- прибивают подкову- beat the horseshoe
обеспечивается заявленный эффект, а именно:the claimed effect is provided, namely:
- достигается плотное (без зазоров) прилегание подковы к копыту, что обуславливает равномерное распределение тяжести лошади на копыто;- A tight fit (without gaps) is achieved between the horseshoe and the hoof, which leads to a uniform distribution of the horse’s weight on the hoof;
- укрепляющее вещество с красящим наполнителем, выполняя функцию индикатора неровностей поверхности, одновременно при прибивании подковы вводится внутрь копыта и способствует его упрочнению;- a strengthening substance with a coloring filler, acting as an indicator of surface irregularities, while nailing a horseshoe, it is introduced into the hoof and contributes to its hardening;
- отсутствие необходимости использования дорогих полимерных материалов способствует снижению затрат на обеспечение ковки лошади.- the absence of the need to use expensive polymeric materials helps to reduce the cost of providing forging a horse.
An example of the method
Traditionally, hoof trimming has the following goals: remove the overgrown horn and give the hoof a shape corresponding to the setting of the limbs; prepare the surface for a snug fit of the horseshoe to the hoof; ensure even distribution of body weight over the entire surface of the hoof.
Circumcision of the hoof starts from the sole. Only the cracked dead horn is removed from it. Taking into account that in practice it is difficult to establish the exact border between a dead and a living horn, when cutting the horn, the configuration of the correct front and rear hooves, in particular, the ratio of the height of the hook and calcaneal walls, as well as the direction of the axis of the finger bones, are taken into account. At the same time, they monitor that the outer and inner walls of the hooves are the same height. In the hooking part of the hoof, the plantar edge is cut at the same level with the sole, and the sole itself is not lower than the level of the arrow tip.
After trimming the sole edge, it is leveled with a large rasp notch and create a smooth horizontal supporting surface for the horseshoe to fit. The sharp edge and the burrs remaining on the outside of the horn wall after trimming and rasping are leveled with a fine notch of the rasp.
Then, a composition consisting of 3-5% Antimonium crudum, 10-30% carbon black and tar birch is applied to the inner surface of the metal horseshoe. In the presence of visible cracks in the hoof, tetracycline is introduced into the composition in an amount of 5-10%, after which the horseshoe is placed on the hoof, pressure is applied to the branches of the horseshoe with little effort and the horseshoe is moved back and forth along the sole of the hoof with a shift of 1-2 mm. The specified parameter of 1-2 mm is optimal, obtained empirically and due to the anthropometric parameters of the horse's hoof. Then the horseshoe is removed, the areas painted on the hoof are cleaned with a rasp. The process of painting and stripping is repeated until a uniformly painted surface is obtained, after which the horseshoe is nailed. At the same time, the hoof-strengthening agent penetrates the hoof.
Using the claimed method allows for high-quality forging while strengthening the hooves of the horse.
