Abstract
Description
The method of generating a video signal for the automatic vehicle number recognition system (SARN) relates to automation and computer technology and is intended for use in systems when monitoring objects in real street conditions all seasonally and round-the-clock.
[1]. Currently, various cameras of such companies as Watec, Sony, Panasonic, etc., are widely used to recognize vehicle numbers, which use a method of generating a video signal that does not provide the required image quality for the SARN in a wide range of operating brightnesses, which does not allow reaching high probability of recognition when using the system in difficult conditions [1].
[2]. The closest in technical essence to the present invention is a video signal generation method used in a Panasonic WV-BP554 television camera, based on the synthesis of a standard video frame signal based on two shutter speed cyclic exposure with fixed values of 1/50 and 1/2000 s [2].
The image observed by the camera is projected through the lens, controlled by the standard video signal generated at the camera output, onto the photosensitive element, performing cyclic exposure with two fixed shutter speeds and converting the optical input signal into an electrical video signal. The received video signal undergoes analog-to-digital conversion, as a result of which a digital video signal is generated. Then it is demultiplexed (signals with small and large exposures are selected) and time / scale conversion, matching selected signals in time (synchronization). After that, the synthesis of the received synchronized signals into a single signal is carried out, combining their elements structurally expressed in different brightness ranges. Further, the resulting signal thus formed is subjected to adaptive gamma correction.
The disadvantages of this method are the impossibility of its use for processing images of dynamic scenes, the need to use special CCD matrices, insufficient for measuring television systems operating in real street conditions, the dynamic range and the signal-to-noise ratio, the need for additional digital processing for synthesis of the integrated image, conditionally representative visually, but not from a measuring point of view.
The problem to which the invention is directed is to obtain a video signal that provides the required image quality for the SARN in a wide range of operating brightnesses.
To solve the problem in the claimed method, the image observed by the camera is projected through a lens controlled by a specially generated video signal onto a photosensitive element that performs cyclic exposure with four adjustable shutter speeds and converts the optical input signal into an electrical video signal. The received video signal undergoes analog-to-digital conversion, as a result of which a digital video signal is generated. Then it is divided into signals corresponding to ultra-small, small, large and extra-large exposures, determined by the dynamics of the observed spatial scene. Further, each of the signals thus formed is subjected to adaptive amplification and gamma correction. One of these signals is converted to a special form suitable for controlling the lens aperture. In contrast, the prototype uses an artificially synthesized video signal to control the lens aperture.
The obtained signals represent a spatial scene in different brightness ranges and allow you to observe all the details of the image without artificial synthesis by structurally expressed elements, which leads to the loss of information, especially significant for measuring systems. The resulting signals can be used both in a video surveillance system (in quad mode), and in any measuring system where they are separately processed with highlighting not abstract details, but specific features characteristic of the applied problem.
The method is carried out using a device for generating a video signal, a functional diagram of which is shown in the drawing.
14. The video signal conditioning apparatus comprises (see the drawing) a lens with a controlled aperture 1, a video signal sensor 2 connected in series, a video frame capture unit 3, an ADC 4 and a digital video signal demultiplexer 5, in series with which four video signal corrector 6-9 and four memory devices 10-13 are connected the outputs of which are connected to the corresponding inputs of the digital video multiplexer 14, the first output of which is the output of the device, and the second is connected to the control unit 15, the outputs of which are connected s to the corresponding control inputs of the lens with a controlled aperture 1, video sensor 2, video capture unit 3, digital video demultiplexer 5 and digital video multiplexer 14.
The device operates as follows.
- формирует сигнал управления диафрагмой объектива 1, соответствующий выбранному уровню яркостной привязки, соответствующему одному из четырех видеосигналов (времен экспозиции) от мультиплексора цифрового видеосигнала 14;
- формирует циклические сигналы управления временем экспозиции заряда в датчике видеосигнала 2;
- осуществляет управление захватом кадра в блоке захвата кадра 3;
Using the lens 1, the image of the monitored zone is projected onto the video sensor 2. Using the capture unit of the video frame 3, the exposure time with the predetermined control unit 15 is the accumulation time and capture of the video frame. The resulting video signal is digitized by the ADC 4 and fed to the demultiplexer 5, which performs the separation of the digital video signal into signals corresponding to different exposure times: ultra-small, small, large and extra-large. Each of the generated signals is subjected to adaptive amplification and gamma correction in the corresponding video signal corrector 6-9 and stored in the corresponding storage devices 10-13 in the form of video frames and then through the multiplexer 14 for further processing are sent to the SARN. The control unit 15 synchronizes and controls the operation of the remaining blocks, namely:
- generates a control signal of the aperture of the lens 1 corresponding to the selected level of luminance reference corresponding to one of the four video signals (exposure times) from the digital video signal multiplexer 14;
- generates cyclic control signals for the exposure time of the charge in the video sensor 2;
- controls the capture of the frame in the block capture frame 3;
- synchronizes the operation of the demultiplexer 5 and multiplexer 14,
As a result, the method of generating a video signal through the use of four luminance slices without artificially combining them in one digital frame allows a high probability of recognition of numbers in the SARN, as well as the possibility of flexible adjustment of exposure times of luminance slices depending on environmental conditions.
