Abstract
Description
The invention relates to measuring technique and can be used to measure the characteristics of gas flows.
Known sensors of hot-wire anemometers wire and film [1]. Wire gauges are made of thin metal wires with a typical diameter of 2.5-10 microns and a length of 100-200 diameters. Such sensors have a large time constant (of the order of milliseconds) and insufficient resolution along the sensing element. Calibration of wire sensors is well established and quite simple. Film sensors are a thin metal film deposited on a massive substrate of insulator. Due to the strong influence of the substrate, these sensors have reduced sensitivity, and obtaining quantitative data with their help is very difficult. Both types of sensitive elements have the listed disadvantages that limit their scope.
The objective of the invention is to increase the frequency range of the sensor of the hot-wire anemometer.
The task is achieved due to the fact that the hot-wire anemometer sensor contains a sensitive element mounted on the holders and is made in the form of a substrate of a single-crystal semiconductor material of a tubular shape with an outer diameter of 0.1-100 microns and a wall thickness of 0.001-1 microns, on the inside or outside the surface of which is coated with a sensitive layer of conductive material.
These features are not identified in other technical solutions when studying the level of this technical field and, therefore, the solution is new and has an inventive step.
The hot-wire anemometer sensor is shown in the drawing.
4. The hot-wire anemometer sensor contains a sensitive element 1 made in the form of a substrate 3 of a single-crystal semiconductor material of a tubular shape with an outer diameter of 0.1-100 μm and a wall thickness of 0.001-1 μm, on the surface of which a sensitive layer of electrically conductive material is applied 2. The sensitive element is fixed on two lead holders 4.
The hot-wire anemometer sensor operates as follows.
To measure the gas velocity, the sensing element 1 is connected using current leads 4 through a bridge measuring circuit (not shown) to a recording device and is heated by electric current. The sensor is installed in the stream so that the sensor is perpendicular to the direction of flow. The sensing element is cooled by the gas flow, which causes a drop in its temperature and, consequently, a decrease in electrical resistance. According to the testimony of the recording device using a previously obtained individual calibration characteristics of the sensor determine the flow rate.
The tubular shape of the sensing element and the selected material, despite the minimum dimensions (wall thickness), have high strength. Due to the reduction of the cross section, heat transfer along the sensitive element is proportionally reduced, therefore, its length can be made much shorter than that of the wire sensor. In this case, the strength and spatial resolution of the sensor increases. In addition, the frequency response of the proposed sensor will be similar to the frequency response of the wire sensor, but the time constant with the same outer diameter will decrease in proportion to the decrease in cross-sectional area, that is, about 25 times.
With the selected wall thickness, the time for which the temperature of the outer and inner surfaces of the tube is aligned with the given wall thickness is 10 -7 -10 -10 s. At large times, we can assume that the temperatures of the external and internal surfaces are equal, therefore, the sensitive layer of the electrically conductive material can be placed both inside and outside the tubular substrate. The internal arrangement of the sensitive layer reduces the effect of contamination of the sensitive element on its characteristics.
The proposed sensing element can be placed on needle-type holders (as with wire gauges of the hot-wire anemometer), in this case the cylindrical shape of the sensing element allows applying the known heat transfer laws used for calibration of wire gauges for calibration. The tubular sensitive element can also be placed on various substrates (like film sensors of a hot-wire anemometer), in this case, due to the small contact area of the sensitive element with the substrate, the frequency response of the sensor will not change, and the form of heat transfer laws will also not change.
Example.
A thermoanemometer sensor with a sensing element made of a single-crystal semiconductor tube with an outer diameter of 5 μm and a wall thickness of 0.1 μm was manufactured and used at the Institute of Applied Mathematical Problems SB RAS. A sensitive layer of electrically conductive material (gold) with a thickness of 0.03 μm was applied to the outer surface of the tube. The time constant of this sensor in the subsonic flow at a speed of 10 m / s is 0.05 ms. The time constant of a tungsten wire sensor with a diameter of 5 μm under the same conditions was 0.5 ms. Thus, the time constant of the proposed tubular sensor is 10 times less than that of the wire, and therefore the frequency range is higher.
The proposed hot-wire anemometer sensor allows you to increase the frequency range and improve spatial resolution, using well-known methods of processing the obtained data, which is especially important when measuring turbulent flows.
