Abstract
Description
The invention relates to the protection of metals from corrosion in acids with the help of inhibitors and can be used for pickling steel and titanium in mechanical engineering and for acid cleaning of equipment from the same metals.
28-29). The use of urotropine as an inhibitor of steel corrosion in acids is known. However, protection with urotropine is not effective enough for steel and especially for titanium. The disadvantage of urotropine is its very high concentration, reaching 2% (Altsybeeva AI, Levin P.3. Inhibitors of metal corrosion. - L .: Chemistry, 1968, p. 28-29).
The closest to the proposed solution in terms of technical nature and the achieved result is a well-known inhibitor - a condensation product of capric aldehyde and aniline (V.G. Turbina and N.G. Klyuchnikov "Protection of steel from corrosion in hydrochloric acid by condensation products of amines and aldehydes", collection of articles "Metal Corrosion Inhibitors", Central Scientific Research Institute of Shipbuilding Technology, Publishing House "Shipbuilding", 1965, p. 124-129). A known inhibitor protects steel from corrosion better than urotropin. However, the degree of corrosion protection in this case is not large enough: 92.07; 95.50 and 97.29%, respectively, in 3, 5 and 7 N hydrochloric acid solutions. For titanium, protection is ineffective; the hydrogen inhibitor of the steel slows down slightly.
When developing this invention, the task was to create an acid corrosion inhibitor that would protect not only steel but also titanium, as well as reduce the hydrogenation of steel. Both effects were supposed to be obtained due to the mutual enhancement of the inhibitory effect of the components of the developed inhibitor. The effectiveness of the proposed inhibitor, at least, should exceed the effectiveness of the prototype.
To achieve this goal, it is proposed to add an inhibitor to solutions of hydrochloric and sulfuric acids, which is a mixture of a heavy metal salt and a condensation product of amine and aldehyde, urotropine, and 2,6-dinitro-4, N, N-triisopropylaniline, and the first two components are used Nickel iodide and n-bromobenzal-sulfathiazole.

The results of corrosion tests of the proposed inhibitor on steel and titanium are shown in table 1 and examples. For a known inhibitor, the data are collected in table 2. The experimental data shown in the tables were obtained by the gravimetric method. Hydrogenation of steel was studied by twisting the samples to fracture on a K-5 machine. Degrees of protection against hydrogenation are given in the same tables.
Example 1. For testing the proposed inhibitor was taken 5 N. sulfuric acid solution containing 5.7 g / l of the proposed inhibitor with the following concentrations of components:
Nickel iodide - 16.4% (0.6 g / l)
n-bromobenzal-sulfatriazole - 11.9% (0.3 g / l)
2,6-dinitro-4, N, N-triisopropylaniline - 23.9% (1.6 g / l)
Urotropin - 47.8% (3.2 g / l)
The experiment was carried out at 20 + 1 o C (the temperature was maintained through the use of a liquid thermostat). The solution was prepared in a volume of 500 ml in which 2.85 g of the inhibitor was dissolved (nickel iodide 0.3 g; n-bromobenzal-sulfathiazole 0.15 g; 2,6-dinitro-4, N, N-triisopropylaniline 0.8 g; urotropin - 1.6 g). First, n-bromobenzalsulfathiazole was introduced into the acid, after it was dissolved with vigorous stirring, 2,6-dinitro-4, N, N-triisopropylaniline was dissolved, then the last two components. Steel samples had a size of 40x25x0.8 mm, they were cleaned with fine sandpaper, degreased with acetone, kept for 2 hours in a desiccator with calcium chloride, and weighed on an analytical balance.
The experiment in triplicate lasted 3 hours
The corrosion rate in pure acid is 9.27 • 10 -4 g / dm 2 / h, in an acid with an inhibitor of 1.02 • 10 -5 g / dm 2 / h. Corrosion Inhibition Ratio:
degree of protection
At 90 ± 1 o C, the experiment lasted 1 h and was set with three samples. The corrosion rate is: in pure acid 38.92 g / dm 2 / h, inhibited acid 0.3114 g / dm 2 / h. Consequently:
In the second series of experiments, the individual components of the inhibitor were introduced into the acid at the same concentrations as in the first series. Inhibition coefficients for nickel iodide were 1.3 (degree of
To test the ability of the proposed inhibitor - to inhibit the hydrogenation of steel - wire samples were taken 12 cm long, with a diameter of 0.8 mm and twisted on a K-5 machine until the sample broke. Tested etched samples that withstood 53 turns, etched in 5 N.
1.The decrease in the number of revolutions before breaking for a pure acid is 50, for an inhibited acid - 34. The coefficient of inhibition of hydrogenation is:
and degree of protection
Example 2. For testing the proposed inhibitor in the protection against acid corrosion of titanium was taken 7 N. hydrochloric acid in a volume of 500 ml,
92,2%. Samples of 40x25x0.9 mm in size were kept in pure and inhibited acids for 2 hours. The inhibition coefficient was 12.8, and the degree of protection was 92.2%.
1,6. In experiments with individual components, they were taken at the same concentrations as in Example 1. The inhibition coefficients were as follows: for nickel iodide 1.1; for n-bromobenzal-sulfathiazole 1.3; for 2,6-dinitro-4, N, N-
The theoretical inhibitory coefficient of the inhibitor is 5.5, that is, more than 2 times inferior to the experimental value. Therefore, in this case, too, a synergistic increase in the action of the inhibitor components occurs.
From a comparison of the data given in the tables and examples, we can draw the following conclusions:
1. The proposed inhibitor is superior to the known degree of corrosion protection for steel and especially for titanium.
2. It significantly increases compared with the known degree of protection of steel against hydrogenation.
3. The assumption of the synergistic nature of the combined action of the inhibitor components as the basis for increasing the protection efficiency of steel and titanium in acids is confirmed.
A comparison of the proposed inhibitor with the PB-5 inhibitor widely used in industrial practice also reveals the superiority of the former; for steel with PB-5, the corrosion braking coefficients are only 41, and for the proposed 100, that is, several times less than for the proposed inhibitor. In addition, unlike PB-5, the proposed inhibitor does not coagulate under the influence of iron salts that accumulate during steel pickling in sulfuric and hydrochloric acids.
The proposed inhibitor can be recommended for use in the etching of steel and titanium in sulfuric and hydrochloric acids, as well as in acid cleaning of equipment made of these metals in mechanical engineering, energy and food industry.
