Abstract
Description
The invention relates to the field of production of paints and varnishes, in particular paints based on polystyrene film-forming, and can be used to protect external metal, concrete and wooden surfaces from atmospheric corrosion in various industries.
N 6]. The known composition of the anticorrosion coating based on polystyrene, in which the polystyrene solvents are toluene, solvent, xylene, the plasticizer is dibutyl phthalate, dioxyl phthalate, chloroparaffin, sovol, castor oil or mixtures thereof. Known pigments are used to obtain a color gamut: titanium dioxide, chromium oxide, iron minium, Prussian blue, or zinc oxide catalyst used in the production of ammonia containing zinc sulfide and zinc oxide. When used as a pigment, the spent zinc oxide catalyst is used as a film-forming agent along with polystyrene varnish and other film-forming ones, for example, drying oil, varnish - PF-283, CSL varnish, epoxy varnish, EP-535 enamel, XB-785 enamel, etc. [1 . RF patent N 2017781, MKI C 09 D 191/00, publ. 08/15/94, BI N 15, Patent of Ukraine N 19264, publ. 12/25/97, PV N 6].
The disadvantages of these compositions are the receipt of paints with low film hardness, the use of polystyrene as a film-forming. According to the data of the above analysis, to obtain paints with increased film hardness, the use of more scarce and more expensive film-forming, such as epoxy varnish, EP-535 enamel, HLS varnish, etc. is required. In turn, this reduces the raw material base for paints with increased hardness due to the restriction of the use as film-forming polystyrene and its copolymers, which, in comparison with other film-forming, have the most large-tonnage production.
The closest in technical essence and the achieved effect is a composition for the production of polystyrene-based paints and varnishes, into which 5–30 wt.% Styrene oligomer with an oligomerization degree of 4 is introduced as a plasticizer and modifier in order to improve aesthetic and technological properties, reduce costs. -5 and with a toluene content of 10% and residual styrene up to 0.15%. [2. RF patent N 2142486, MKI C 09 D 125/06, publ. 09/20/99, BI N 34/99 - prototype].
The disadvantage of this composition is the low hardness of the coating, which is in the range of 0.2-0.3 unit (determined according to GOST 5233).
The basis of the invention is the task of improving the composition of polystyrene paint by introducing a modifier in the form of an aqueous solution of polyvinyl alcohol (PVA), which provides increased hardness of the coating to reduce restrictions when using less scarce and less expensive polystyrene as a film-forming.
аналог 4 в таблице).The problem is solved due to the fact that a 4% aqueous solution of polyvinyl alcohol, containing 12-14% acetate groups, is introduced into the composition of a polystyrene paint, including film-forming polystyrene, solvent, dyes, pigments and modifier, with the following ratio of components, wt.%:
Film-forming - polystyrene - 15.5
Solvent - 62
Dyes - 5.5
Pigments - 7-5
Modifier - 4% aqueous solution of polyvinyl alcohol with a content of 12-14% acetate groups - 10-12
In the proposed composition, in comparison with the known, due to the introduction of a 4% aqueous solution of PVA with a content of acetate groups of 12-14% within the stated limits, an increase in the hardness of the coating is achieved, which reduces the restrictions on the use of polystyrene based paint, for example, instead of paint based on EP-535 enamel, HSL varnish, XB-785 enamel, MS-18 paint (see
The use of PVA with a content of 12-14% acetate groups has, on the one hand, adhesiveness, which increases the adhesion of the coating to the surface to be protected, and on the other hand, its aqueous solutions are non-ionic surfactants, which ensures a fairly good distribution of 4% aqueous PVA solution in polystyrene paint, which has high hydrophobicity, which in turn, when the paint dries, provides a seal of the coating film and increase its hardness.
The order of preparation of the composition is as follows. Polystyrene and a solvent, for example, toluene, solvent or xylene, are loaded into a container with a stirrer in order to obtain a 20% polystyrene solution. The contents are mixed until the polystyrene is completely dissolved. A modifier — a 4% aqueous solution of PVA — is added to the resulting solution and mixed until a homogeneous, non-stratified mass is obtained. Then the mixture is reloaded into a ball mill or paint grinder, pigments are added. Inorganic pigments are used as a pigment, depending on the desired color gamut: titanium dioxide - to obtain white, chromium oxide - to obtain green, iron minium - brown, Prussian blue - blue and phthalocionite blue. Then add dyes (organic pigment scarlet) and mix to a predetermined degree of grinding (example 2) (TU 113-03-27-89-91). The resulting composition is applied to the surface of the test samples, dried at 18-23 o C and tested. The hardness of the film is determined using the pendulum device MI-3 according to GOST 6883-75. Adhesion is determined by the method of trellised notches according to GOST 15140-69. The bending of the film is determined according to GOST 6806-74. The strength of the film upon impact is determined on the device U-1A according to GOST 4765-73. The order of preparation of the composition (for examples 1, 3) is as follows. Polystyrene is mixed in a mixer, for example, a "drunk barrel", with pigments and dyes, extruded on an extruder at 180-230 o C. In the container with a mixer load the obtained extrudate and an appropriate amount of solvent to obtain similar (example 2) proportions. The contents are mixed until completely dissolved. Then, a 4% PVA solution is added to the resulting solution and mixed until a homogeneous, non-stratified composition is obtained. The resulting composition is applied to the surface of test samples, dried at a temperature of 18-23 o C according to current standards.
The table shows the formulations and physico-mechanical properties of the compositions based on the proposed (examples 1-3) and known (example 4) compositions and transcendental values (example 5 and 6).
According to the table, the new composition (examples 1-3) compared with the prototype (example 4) provides an increase in hardness of 1.86 times while maintaining the remaining physical and mechanical properties at the same level. With a decrease in the additive of a 4% aqueous solution of PVA to polystyrene paint to 6% (Example 5), the coating hardness decreases to 0.28 units, and with an increase in the addition of a 4% aqueous solution of PVA to polystyrene paint up to 18% ( example 6) decreases the strength of the coating to impact, deteriorates bending, adhesion and gloss.
Thus, the proposed composition of polystyrene paint provides an increase in hardness of almost 2 times while maintaining the remaining physical and mechanical properties at the same level.
