Abstract
Description
The invention relates to methods for producing sorbents and adsorbents based on porous materials and can be used for purification of industrial gases, as well as an odor and moisture absorber in household air purifiers, as a hygienic filler, for example, for cat's toilets and other needs.
A known method of producing adsorbents based on diatomaceous earths by impregnating them with sulfur in carbon diosulfite or an aqueous solution of iron sulfate at a temperature of from 100 o C to 400 o C (see Japanese application N 61-238338 B 01
The disadvantages of this method are the narrow orientation of the adsorbent and the environmental hazard during its implementation.
There is also known a method of producing a sorbent, including crushing a porous silicate carrier, saturation with a solution of a modifying reagent-aluminum sulfate, iron (III) sulfate, ammonium sulfate, potassium permanganate, or a combination thereof. Subsequent heat treatment is carried out at the decomposition temperature of the modifying reagent (see the description of the patent of the Russian Federation N 2031705, B 01
The disadvantages of this method is that as an adsorbent, it cannot be used effectively for gas purification, cannot absorb odors.
The technical problem to which the invention is directed is to increase the efficiency of the adsorption properties of the obtained material for cleaning and absorbing odors.
550 - 650oC.The stated technical problem is achieved by crushing the porous silicate carrier and heat treatment, before crushing, drying is performed to remove excess moisture from the carrier. As a porous silicate carrier, diatomite is taken. Subsequent heat treatment for the carrier of fine particles is carried out at a temperature sufficient to remove loss on ignition (p.p.p.) and impart mechanical strength to the granule, which is in the range of 550 - 650 o C.
These temperature limits are established experimentally.
The method was carried out as follows:
Examples.
Mineral porous silicate raw material was delivered to a warehouse where it was aged for two weeks. During this time, the raw materials were naturally dried, as a result of which the humidity was reduced from 33% to 20%. Then it was crushed on a cone crusher to a fraction of 0-5 mm. The obtained fraction was subjected to heat treatment in a drum furnace. Then, after heat treatment, they were classified to a commercial fraction in the range of 0.5 - 5.0 mm.
The following examples 2 and 3 with diatomite are essentially the same as flask example 1, and their operational parameters are presented in the table
Thus obtained adsorbent has the following characteristics:
Volumetric weight, kg • m 3 - 590 - 620
Specific surface, m 2 • g - 150 - 200
Water absorption,% - 65 - 90
Strength, MPa - 1.5 - 3.0
Abrasion,% - 0.5
The inventive adsorbent was used to purify industrial gases at a number of Ural plants, where good results were obtained on the capture of sulfuric and sulfur dioxide, fluorine-containing components, oxide, nitrogen dioxide, etc.
The obtained adsorbent was also used as a hygienic filler for cat's toilets. The result is a 3-4 cm thick litter that absorbs odor for a week.
