Abstract
Description
The proposed composition relates to medicine, in particular dentistry, and can be used for the prevention and treatment of dental caries in both children and adults.
Caries is a pathological process that affects the tooth after eruption, accompanying the demineralization of hard tissues, which subsequently leads to the formation of a defect in the form of a cavity. The occurrence of dental caries is due to the interaction of general and local factors.
[1,3]. Prevention and treatment of the initial stage of caries is carried out using fluorine compounds in the form of its organic and inorganic compounds. Most often used in the form of sodium fluoride, potassium fluoride, titanium fluoride. Fluorides are used internally and locally [1,3].
Known 0.05% and 0.2% solutions of sodium fluoride in water, which is used as a local tool for the prevention and treatment of dental caries in children and adults in the form of mouth rinses.
[1]. Sodium fluoride enters into a chemical compound with one of the main mineral components of tooth enamel, hydroxyapatite, turning it into a more resistant to acid acid mineral fluoroapatite. The formation of enamel fluorapatite lowers its permeability and solubility [1].
But at the same time, the course of treatment is 25 days, and prophylactic 10 days, with insufficient effectiveness of the sodium fluoride solution, which is associated with its low penetration into the hard tissues of the tooth.
[2]. The closest set of essential features to the proposed composition is the composition of fluoride, which the authors have chosen as a prototype [2].
The composition of fluoride contains sodium fluoride, fir or cedar balsam, shellac, chloroform and ethyl alcohol, in the following ratio, wt.%:
Sodium Fluoride - 5.0
Fir or cedar balm - 40.0
Shellac - 19.0
Chloroform - 12.0
Ethyl Alcohol - 24.0
This composition has a preventive effect and is used to prevent dental caries, and as a therapeutic agent is used for caries in the stage of a white spot and hyperesthesia of hard tissues of teeth. It is applied to the teeth with a thin layer in the form of a film. This film is held on the surface of the teeth for a long time, which ensures prolonged saturation with fluoride ions of enamel and dentin of the teeth, since fluoride is able to give fluoride ions almost within a day.
This method also has antimicrobial activity and the ability to reduce or even relieve pain sensitivity of hard tooth tissues.
However, the known composition has insufficient penetration through the hard tissues of the tooth, lack of conductivity and, as a consequence, is not effective enough in the prevention and treatment of dental caries.
The objective of the proposed composition is to increase the effectiveness of its use in the prevention and treatment of dental caries, the elimination of hypersthesia of the hard tissues of the teeth, by increasing its penetrating ability and activity.
The problem is solved by the proposed composition for the prevention and treatment of dental caries, containing sodium fluoride, balsam fir or cedar, shellac, chloroform, ethyl alcohol, according to the invention it additionally contains dimexide and water, in the following ratio, wt. %:

Fir or cedar balm - 20.0-28.0
Shellac - 9.5-13.3
Chloroform - 6.0-8.4
Ethyl alcohol - 12.0-16.8
Dimexide - 3.0-5.0
Water - Else
The introduction into the composition within the protected limits of dimexide, which has good conductivity and penetration through the hard tissues of the tooth, allows you to activate the action of the proposed composition of medicinal substances, transporting them deep into the hard tissues of the tooth, accelerating this process and prolonging their action.
This allows you to effectively use the proposed composition for the prevention of dental caries, both in children and adults, to treat caries in the white spot stage, to remove hyperesthesia of the hard tissues of the teeth, and to accelerate the maturation of the enamel of a newly erupted tooth.
The introduction of dimexide in the proposed composition of less than 3.0 wt.% Leads to a decrease in both the conductive and penetrating ability of the composition in the hard tissues of the tooth, and more than 5.0 wt.% Reduces the amount of other components introduced, which leads to a decrease in the therapeutic effect of the proposed composition .
Water is introduced into the proposed composition for the distribution of components in each other evenly.
