A disadvantage of the known alloy is the high cost of the iron ore part of the charge and fuel due to the high melting point of the resulting compounds, which significantly increases the specific consumption of coke for the production of this cast iron. In the known cast iron there are no components that contribute to an increase in the degree of extraction of vanadium, chromium, and titanium.
The proposed pig iron contains carbon, silicon, manganese, vanadium, titanium, copper, nickel and additionally helium, hafnium, sulfur and phosphorus in the following ratio, wt.%:
Carbon - 3.0-4.8
Silicon - 0.02-0.80
Manganese - 0.01-1.5
Vanadium - 0.03-1.0
Titanium - 0.02-0.6
Phosphorus - 0.015-0.10
Sulfur - 0.010-0.050
Copper - 0.01-0.12
Nickel - 0.02-0.30
Cobalt - 0.001-0.140
Chrome - 0.01-0.9
Aluminum - 0.03-0.15
Gallium - 0.0001-0.003
Hafnium - 0.001-0.004
Gallium and hafnium, which are part of the pig iron, have the ability with many metals (including vanadium, chromium, titanium, copper) to form alloys with a low melting point. Another positive effect is caused by an increase in the activity of iron, manganese, nickel, which affects the structure and increases the wear resistance of castings. The presence of gallium and hafnium in pig iron in quantities of 0.0001-0.0003 and 0.0001-0.004 (wt.%) Increase the tendency of vanadium to oxidize and convert it to slag. Oxides formed during the oxidation of gallium and hafnium, combining with iron oxides, form a stable spinel, which is part of the complex spinel, which contributes to its chemical and thermal hardening, which positively affects the strength properties of castings. The declared level of concentration of gallium (0.0001-0.003 wt.%) And hafnium (0.0001-0.004 wt.%) Guarantees the manifestation of the described effects. However, with a decrease in the concentration of gallium and hafnium less than 0.0001%, their effect is practically not manifested, and when the gallium content in the pig iron is more than 0.003% and hafnium is more than 0.004%, the effect remains practically unchanged. The presence of vanadium in the composition of cast iron provides for the formation of the main component of vanadium slag, complex spinel, during oxidative purge in the converter. The proposed limits for the vanadium content make it possible to maintain the liquid-moving silicate component in the slag at an optimal level (below 70%) and reduce the irrevocable losses of vanadium when separating the slag from the metal, as well as obtain the desired physical properties of the slag during redistribution of cast iron in the converter to reduce the irrevocable losses of vanadium. Titanium, which is included in cast iron in an amount of 0.020-0.6%, in a somewhat wider range than in the known alloy, completely passes into spinelide, the chemical and thermal stability of which increases significantly if chromium in the cast iron is 0.02-0.9 % Violation of these limits leads to an increase in vanadium losses in the production of slag.
The indicated limits for the content of other components of cast iron act in the proposed cast iron similarly to their action in a known alloy.
Comparison of the proposed composition of pig iron with the prototype shows that the fundamental difference between the claimed alloy is the presence of gallium and hafnium components.
Within the study of the claimed composition of pig iron according to patent and scientific and technical literature, technical solutions known in science and technology that contain features similar to those distinguishing the claimed solutions from the prototype have not been identified. Therefore, this solution meets the criterion of "significant differences".
Example. In an industrial 20 t converter, when supplying air through the bottom of the converter, cast irons of known and proposed compositions were purged. In all experiments, the conditions were kept the same, the temperature of cast iron was 1280-1290 o C, the temperature at which the transfer of vanadium from cast iron to commercial vanadium, containing slag, 1350-1365 o C, the cooler was vanadium-containing sinter in an amount of 100 kg / t, the purge rate was 475 m 3 / min
After the purge was completed (8-10 min), the obtained metal (carbon intermediate) was discharged into the ladle, the slag was turned over into the bowl after the intermediate was discharged. Next, the degree of transition of vanadium from cast iron to slag was determined, as well as the extraction of chromium and titanium by converter conversion. From the data given in the table, it follows that the proposed cast iron, in comparison with the known one, provides a higher degree of transition of vanadium from cast iron to commercial vanadium, extraction of chromium and titanium during converter processing, as well as a reduction in the consumption of iron ore materials and fuel in blast furnace and converter redistribution. The wear resistance of castings is also increased.
