Abstract
Description
The invention relates to medical equipment and is intended to measure deep body temperature by the temperature of the excreted urine.
A device for measuring the temperature of the allocated urine, containing a thermally sensitive element (thermistor), is electrically connected to an optical thermometer [1]. When using the device, the thermosensitive element is held in the stream of urine released and the temperature is recorded with an electrothermometer.
A disadvantage of the known device is the low reliability of the measurement results, since the device does not provide reliable fixation of the heat-sensitive element in the liquid stream, which requires repeated measurements. In addition, in the process of thermometric examination, urine is sprayed, which is inconvenient.
[2]. Closest to the invention is a catheter for measuring temperature, containing a urine guide, in which a thermocouple connected to an electronic thermometer is installed at one of its ends, while the urine guide is connected to the urinal [2].
When using the device, the urine guide is inserted into the urethra, which is unsafe for the patient and requires considerable time for thermometric examination.
The purpose of the invention is to increase safety and reduce the time for measuring the temperature of the excreted urine.
The goal is achieved in that the urine guide is made in the form of a truncated cone, mounted in the urinal away from its walls and connected to it by means of fasteners, while the larger base of the urine guide is placed at the entrance to the urinal, and the thermometric element is installed on the side of the smaller base.
The proposed device design, in contrast to the known one, provides safety and reduces the time of thermometric examination due to the fact that direct contact of the device with the patient’s body is excluded.
The drawing shows a General view of a device for measuring the temperature of the allocated urine.
9. The device contains a urinal 1 with a volume of at least 1.5 liters to collect a single portion of urine. The upper part of the urinal is made funnel-shaped with a working diameter of at least 20 cm and is located at an angle to the lower part, which prevents spraying of the jet when it comes in contact with the mirror of the liquid in the urinal. In the inlet of the urinal, at a distance from its walls using elements 2, 3, a urine guide 4 is fixed, which is an open chamber at the ends and in the shape of a truncated cone with a volume of about 5 ml, facing a large base with a diameter of about 15 mm to the guided stream 5, and a smaller one a base with a diameter of 4-5 mm inside the urinal 1. In the cavity of the guide 4 from the side of the smaller base, a point-sensitive temperature-sensitive element 6 is fixed (a thermistor with a minimum response time, for example, grade STZ-14 with a time constant in water of 1 s). The thermocouple 6 using electrical conductors 7 and an electric cable 8 is connected to an electrothermometer 9.
When using the device, the patient directs a stream of urine 5 inside the guide 4, which is placed close to the urethra. In this case, the inner surface of the guide takes the temperature inherent in the temperature of the urine excreted, i.e. body of the patient. A stream is formed in the narrow part of the guide, which ensures the complete immersion of the thermocouple in the test fluid. Thermocouple 6 generates a signal proportional to the temperature of the urine washing it. The signal is recorded by an electrothermometer 9. After contact with the thermocouple, urine without spraying and with less pressure enters the urinal, from where it is used for further laboratory research or is disposed of. Using the proposed device, the time of one measurement of the deep temperature of the human body is several seconds, after which the device can be used to measure temperature in other persons.
The elimination of direct contact of the device with the patient’s body reduces the time of thermometric examination and makes it completely safe, since it completely eliminates the transmission of a possible infection when using the device by several persons. Thanks to this, the device can find application in mass thermometric examination for preventive, scientific and therapeutic purposes.
A prototype of the proposed device is used to control the deep temperature of the human body after a person is in extreme conditions of heat and cold.
