Abstract
Description
The invention relates to the field of engineering, in particular to engine building, and more particularly to the improvement of liquid cooling systems of internal combustion engines.
Known liquid cooling system of internal combustion engines (ICE) [1]
The system includes cooling cavities of the block and cylinder covers with inlet, bypass and outlet openings, a supply manifold connected to the inlet openings of the cooling unit, a discharge manifold, "hot" and "cold" coolant circuits. Moreover, the "hot" circuit includes a first circulation pump, a first radiator, and a "cold" second circulation pump, a second radiator, oil and charge air coolers, as well as cross-circuit bypass lines and a liquid distributor.
Such a system works uneconomically, because each of the coolant circuits has its own circulation pump, the drive of which consumes a significant part of the engine power. The disadvantages of the system include the fact that in case of parallel operation of both circuits, for example, when the engine is warming up, the system cannot provide accelerated heating of the oil, which ultimately leads to an increase in the warm-up time and, consequently, to increased consumption of fuel and lubricating oil . In addition, the presence of two circulation pumps and two radiators leads to the complication of the system as a whole.
The ICE liquid cooling system is also known [2]. The system includes a cooling cavity for a block and cylinder covers with inlet, bypass and outlet openings, a supply manifold connected to inlet openings of the cooling unit, a discharge manifold, a circulation pump, a radiator, a two-valve thermostat, a cooler oil connected in parallel to the cylinder head.
However, this system, as well as system [1], is uneconomical, since part of the coolant sent to the oil cooler is not involved in cooling the engine cylinders, therefore, to ensure normal operation of the system, the circulation pump is selected with increased performance (by the amount of fluid flow, passing through the oil cooler), which takes a certain part of the engine power. In addition, to ensure fluid flow through the oil cooler, the hydraulic resistance of the cooling cavities of the block and cylinder heads of the engine should be commensurate with the hydraulic resistance of the water cavity of the oil cooler. The disadvantages of the system include the increased unevenness of the distribution of coolant over the shirts of individual cylinders due to the removal of part of the fluid into the cooler and the lack of a device that allows you to control the flow of fluid passing through both the cylinder block and the oil cooler. These shortcomings contribute to increased fuel and oil consumption and ultimately reduce engine efficiency.
The invention is aimed at simplifying the system and improving the economic characteristics of the engine.
This is achieved by the fact that the inlet manifold is made of two sections between which an oil cooler is installed, the first section of the inlet manifold before the oil cooler connected to one of the two inlet openings of the block, and the second section after the oil cooler with the second inlet of the block. In this case, the inlet of the cooling cavity of the block associated with the first section of the inlet manifold and the inlet of the block associated with the second section of the inlet manifold are located at different levels, the first is higher than the middle height and the second below the middle of the height of the cooling cavity of the block, and the ratio of the passage area the cross section of the second hole to the area of the passage section of the first hole is within 1.5.2.0. As one of the versions of the system, we offer the second section of the inlet manifold additionally, through a pipeline with a control valve, to connect with the suction cavity of the circulation pump.
Figure 1 presents a structural diagram of a General view of the engine with the proposed liquid cooling system; in FIG. 2 the same, cross section of an engine with a cooling system; in FIG. 3 is a structural diagram of a General view of the engine with the proposed liquid cooling system and an additional pipe connecting the second section of the inlet manifold with the suction pipe of the circulation pump.
10. The proposed system includes
14. The proposed system works as follows. Coolant from the
The second, main part of the flow, in accordance with the ratio of the flow area of the
For the embodiment of the proposed system (Fig. 3), depending on the temperature of the coolant and the ambient temperature, part of the fluid coming from the
Thus, the proposed liquid cooling system of an internal combustion engine, along with simplification, has made it possible to increase the efficiency of engine cooling due to the fact that liquid with different initial temperatures is supplied to sections of cylinders with different thermal stresses. The system can also be used in northern conditions to reduce the warm-up time of a cold engine and increase the reliability of its starting.
